Born and raised in Reykjavík, Björk began her music career at the age of 11 and gained international recognition as the lead singer of the alternative rock band the Sugarcubes, by the age of 21. After the Sugarcubes disbanded in 1992, Björk began a solo career. She came to prominence with albums such as Debut (1993), Post (1995), and Homogenic (1997), collaborating with a range of artists and exploring a variety of multimedia projects. Her other albums include Vespertine (2001), Medúlla (2004), Volta (2007), Biophilia (2011), Vulnicura (2015), Utopia (2017) and Fossora (2022).
Several of Björk's albums have reached the top 20 on the US Billboard 200 chart. As of 2015, she had sold more than 20 million records worldwide. Thirty-one of her singles have reached the top 40 on pop charts around the world, with 22 top-40 hits in the UK, including the top-10 singles "It's Oh So Quiet", "Army of Me", and "Hyperballad" and the top-20 singles "Play Dead", "Big Time Sensuality", and "Violently Happy". Her accolades and awards include the Order of the Falcon, five BRIT Awards, and 16 Grammy nominations. In 2015, Time named her one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Rolling Stone named her the 60th greatest singer and the 81st greatest songwriter.
Björk starred in the 2000 Lars von Trier film Dancer in the Dark, for which she won the Best Actress Award at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Original Song for "I've Seen It All". Biophilia was marketed as an interactive app album with its own education program. Björk has also been an advocate for environmental causes in Iceland. A retrospective exhibition dedicated to Björk was held at the New York Museum of Modern Art in 2015.

Björk Lyrics

Þá frelsarinn lánar veðrið blítt
Heyið grænt í görðum
Grös og heilagfiskið nýtt
En þegar vetur að oss fer að sveigja
Veit ég enga verri sveit um veraldarreit
Menn og dýr þá deyja
The lyrics to Björk's song Fagurt Er í Fjörðum, which translates to "Beauty in the Fjords," are rich in meaning and emotion. The song begins with a description of the beauty found in the fjords, with the savior lending the blue weather to bless the sight. The green in the gardens and new holy fish highlight the ethereal quality of the place. However, the tone of the song changes when winter comes, and death visits the land, affecting not only humans but also animals.
The lyrics carry a bittersweet message about the transience of life and the inevitability of death. Björk seems to be hinting that, no matter how beautiful something may seem, it will eventually fade away. Despite this fact, she finds solace in the beauty that was once there, and the memory that remains. She raises a poignant question about the meaning of life and the importance of cherishing those moments of beauty and grace, no matter how fleeting they may be.
Overall, Fagurt Er í Fjörðum is a powerful song that celebrates the beauty of life while acknowledging the darker aspects that come with it. It's a reminder to appreciate the present moment and to find comfort in the memories that remain after things have passed.

Fagurt er í fjörðum
The fjords are beautiful
Þá frelsarinn lánar veðrið blítt
Then, the savior lends us calm weather
Heyið grænt í görðum
The garden is green in the enclosures
Grös og heilagfiskið nýtt
Fresh herbs and sacred fish
En þegar vetur að oss fer að sveigja
But when winter starts to weigh down on us
Veit ég enga verri sveit um veraldarreit
I do not know of a worse place in the world
Menn og dýr þá deyja
Men and animals then die

Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I miss you
But I haven't met you yet
So special
But it hasn't happened yet
You are gorgeous
But I haven't met you yet
I remember
But it hasn't happened yet
[Chorus]
And if you believe in dreams
Or what is more important
That a dream can come true
I will meet you
[Verse 2]
I was peaking
But it hasn't happened yet
I haven't been given
My best souvenir
I miss you
But I haven't met you yet
I know your habits
But wouldn't recognize you yet
[Chorus]
And if you believe in dreams
Or what is more important
That a dream can come true
I miss you
[Bridge]
I'm so impatient
I can't stand the wait
When will I get my cuddle?
Who are you?
I know by now that you'll arrive
By the time I stop waiting
[Refrain]
I miss you
