Blacklite District is originally from the Black Hills of South Dakota, and was founded by guitarist Kyle Pfeiffer, and vocalist Roman James. After years of writing songs and playing live in the Black Hills area, Kyle and Roman were discovered by Grammy Award-winning producer, Stephen Short in early 2011. This brought upon two new members to bring into the equation, bassist Chauncey βCKβ KΓΆchel, and session drummer Matt O'Rourke. CK and Matt began rehearsing with the band in the weeks leading up to entering the worldβs largest residential recording studio, Sonic Ranch. With producer Stephen Short and engineer Charles Godfrey on board, Blacklite District recorded their 7-track debut album, βThis is Where it Endsβ, in the summer of 2011.
Following the completion of the album, the band relocated to Los Angeles, and has accomplished a lot in a short period of time. On September 30, the group's first single, "I'm Stil Right Here", debuted at Active Rock Radio in 5 states in the Midwest on X-ROCK 101.1 (KDDX), where it eventually hit the Top 20. On October 28, BLD debuted live at the World Famous Whisky A Go-Go on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, CA. On 11-11-11, "This is Where it Ends" went on sale to digital retailers and has so far gotten rave reviews.
With a debut album out worldwide, a hit single at radio, and up-coming tour dates, itβs sure to say that this band strives for success. βWe look forward to touring and getting our music out there,β says singer Roman James. βWe know people are going to dig what they hear, especially if theyβre tired of all the generic sounding music being released in todays 'sub-par' music industry.β Blacklite District combines heaviness with catchiness and has a distinct sound that separates them from other bands.
In early 2012, the band began a monumental promotion campaign in support of "This is Where it Ends", which will continue through out the year. The band's second single, "Left Behind", will be released to radio in new markets.
In the fall of 2012, BLD relocated from Hollywood, CA to Orlando, FL after signing a new management deal with famed Creed and Paramore manager Jeff Hanson, and will release a new album in late 2012 on Silent Majority Group/Warner Music Group.

Like you have to roll the dice on a yes or no
Like you have to be so fucked up to even know
That the easy road, it don't exist no more
This is just my flow, what's your excuse
Do you down the booze or do you down the pills
Do you try to find that peace of mind or do you just blow it off
Line tomorrow
We always seem to be bothered
With shit that don't really matters
It's clever, whatever
Like tomorrow
It's like the scene from a movie
Thhe sh we watch on the TV
Fantasy, so easy
You can't see
Living in the dark
You're not free
Living in the dark
Lights Out
Living in the dark
Lights Out
Like tomorrow
It's like we have to be killed just to stay alive
Like we have no control over our own life
Like we have to constantly be in overdrive
If you wanna survive and pull out the knife
This is just my flow, what's your excuse
Do you down the booze or do you down the pills
Let's try to find that peace of mind
And don't fck'n blow it off
Line tomorrow
We always seem to be bothered
With shit that don't really matters
It's clever, whatever
Like tomorrow
It's like the scene from a movie
Thhe sh we watch on the TV
Fantasy, so easy
You can't see
Living in the dark
You're not free
Living in the dark
Lights Out
Living in the dark
Lights Out
I can't see
I'm living in the dark
I'm set free
I'm living
You can't see
Living in the dark
You're not free
Living in the dark
Lights Out

The lyrics to Blacklite District's song "Lights Out" are focused on the idea of feeling trapped and overwhelmed in life. The opening lines speak of the pressure to conform to social norms and expectations, to be afraid to say hello and to take chances. The lyrics add that there is a constant need to feel something, to take drugs or alcohol, and to find peace of mind. The chorus speaks about the feelings of being trapped and being unable to see or find freedom in life, leading to the sense that the lights are out.
The second verse speaks about feeling like there isn't much control over our own lives, with the constant need to be in overdrive just to survive. The lyrics contrast this with the idea of finding peace of mind, advising listeners not to dismiss the opportunity to find it. The second half of the song repeats the chorus, with the final line suggesting the possibility of finding a way to live free of the darkness.
Overall, "Lights Out" is a personal and introspective song, touching on themes of conformity, addiction, control, and freedom. It encourages listeners to find peace of mind in life and to break free from the chains that hold them back.
