Summer Day
Blodwyn Pig Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Much too tired in the morning
Much too lazy in the evenin' time
Summer day, much too tired
Don't pass time with me

I got no bone in my body
My legs ????????????
Summer day, much too tired
Don't pass time with me

Got no lovin' this morning
I'll get no lovin' in the evenin' time
Summer day, much too tired
Don't pass time with me

Ah-choo!
Bless you!

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Blodwyn Pig's song "Summer Day" depict a sense of weariness and listlessness. The singer seems to lack energy and motivation during both the morning and evening, referred to as "much too tired in the morning" and "much too lazy in the evening time." Even on a summer day when the sun is shining and the world is alive, the singer is too tired to enjoy their surroundings or spend time with others. The line "don't pass time with me" suggests a desire to be left alone and to wallow in their exhaustion.

The second verse continues to emphasize the singer's physical weariness, as their bones feel nonexistent and their legs are unidentified ("my legs ????????????"). They also express their lack of love and affection, stating they "got no lovin' this morning" and won't get any in the evening. This lack of connection with others further contributes to their fatigue and apathy towards life. The final line of the song, "Ah-choo! Bless you!" is a sudden and seemingly unrelated interjection, potentially suggesting that the singer feels as though their exhaustion is causing them to become sick.

Thank goodness I just pulled my vinyl out of storage, now I can play the whole album!
It is always a pleasure to hear them again.

This reminds me Jethro songs like "Driving Song", "Love Story" and "A Song for Jeffrey". I think this is very much of what Jethro Tull would become if Mick Abrahams hadn't left

Keith Gordon

I saw them supporting the great Golden Earring at The Sundown Edmonton (London) in the mid 70's, along with a few other support bands (there were more then 1 that night). They were boring, dreary, and played this pub rock kind of boogie woogie forgettable crap. Golden Earring were brilliant, proper 70'S Heavy Metal with riffs, full of emotion. Sorry guys, I just couldn't resist it, give me hell if you want to...Lol.

This song wasn't on this album. It was released on their great previous record Ahead Rings Out. I believe it was added to fill the later cd version of Getting To This.

@Ronny Eriksson Both songs are on original U.S. pressings of Ahead Rings Out. I'm looking at my copy.

Acctually it was released as a singel from the start with Walk on the water on the other side 1969. It was not on their two Lp's.
