The project's most critically acclaimed release is The Work Which Transforms God, a concept album which - in spite of being mostly instrumental with none of the lyrics made public - is meant to challenge the listener's prejudices and preconceptions about reality, life and various metaphysical subjects. The Work Which Transforms God has been almost unanimously praised in reviews and was named by Terrorizer Magazine as its number one album of 2003.

The Forsaken Voices of the Ghostwood's Shadowy Realm
Blut aus Nord Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
malicious spirit
There was a funebre atmosphere and putrid
smell of sulphur
In the obscurity we could make out some
transparent silouettes
We were on the shadowy realm that some persons
called Ghostwood
Suddenly through the thick fog
We begun to hear a strange macabre serenade
The lugubrious choirs of the forsaken cursed spirits
"Don't listen to the chants of the soul in sorrow
They're like a trap to take you away from your path"
The voices of the ancient warriors became oppressive
More and more difficult to resist in the wood
We tried to put our fingers in our ears but it
was effectless
So, we took a piece of ice and plunged it into
our ears to cut out eardrums
Then, we were rid of the spirit's hold, free of
their harassment
Deafness was the price to pay
Deafness was the key
Deafness was the key to go out of the haunted
domain of ghostwood
Suddenly, through the thick fog; we were alone
We were alone with an eternal silence
The lyrics to Blut aus Nord's song The Forsaken Voices of the Ghostwood's Shadowy Realm describe a haunting and eerie experience in a frozen swamp where the singer and their companions encounter malicious spirits. The scene is set with a funereal atmosphere and a putrid smell of sulphur. Transparent silhouettes can be seen in the shadows, adding to the foreboding nature of the environment. As the group moves through the swamp, a macabre serenade can be heard through the thick fog, comprised of the choirs of the forsaken and cursed spirits. However, the spirits' ethereal song is not to be trusted, as it is a trap to lure unsuspecting travelers away from their path.
Despite their efforts to resist the spirits and block out their haunting music, the ancient warriors' voices become increasingly oppressive. In a desperate attempt to escape the spirit's hold, the group takes drastic measures and intentionally deafens themselves by plunging ice into their ears to cut out their eardrums. Through this sacrifice, they become free from the spirits' harassment and can escape the haunted domain of the Ghostwood. The final verse implies that they are left in an eternal silence, perhaps as a consequence of their self-inflicted deafness, or maybe as a metaphor for the haunting and never-ending memory of the encounter.
