Bo Diddley
Bo Diddley Lyrics

Bo Diddley bought his babe a diamond ring
If that diamond ring don't shine
He gonna take it to a private eye
If that private eye can't see
He'd better not take the ring from me

Bo Diddley caught a nanny goat
To make his pretty baby a Sunday coat
Bo Diddley caught a bear cat
To make his pretty baby a Sunday hat

Mojo come to my house, ya black cat bone
Take my baby away from home
Ugly ask Mojo, where has he been?
Up your house, and gone again

Bo Diddley, Bo Diddley have you heard?
My pretty baby said she wasn't for it

One of the most important figures in music history. Without him, Rock and its subsequent offshoots simply wouldn't have been. Rest in peace, Bo, and thank you.

@Brandon Uebel The Beatles started the British Invasion.

@jazziccoolcat Love Pat Hare's playing. He influenced every guitarist who recorded for Sun Records including Scotty Moore behind Elvis. Goree Carter was doing Chuck Berry style in 1949.

@jazziccoolcat excellent! all true! but you mention 1954 recordings by Chuck Berry. I would really like to hear those. Are the recordings you mention available digitally?

Billy Roues

@Visão Dissidente sorry, Bill Haley was certainly one of the great early white Rock'n'Rollers but nearly all his early hits were copies of black artists. Rocket 88 in 1951 was first done by Jackie Brenston and His Delta Cats (Ike Turner's band recorded by Sam Phillips in Memphis. Shake Rattle and Roll 1954 was originally by Big Joe Turner earlier in 1954. I'm not knocking Bill Haley. He had the first R'n'R #1 in 1955 but comparing him and Bo is like apples and oranges. Bo was an original. He introduced the Bo Diddley beat and every rock band adapted that beat for at least one song in their repertoire ever since. Bill Haley's main beat was a jump boogie style that has its roots in the RnB of the mid to late 40's.

@Visão Dissidente Not like Bo Diddley. Bo's beat was a game changer.
