During 1970 and 1971, Wailer, Marley and Tosh worked with renowned reggae producers Leslie Kong and Lee "Scratch" Perry.
They released four albums before signing to Island Records in 1972. Two more albums were created before Tosh and Wailer left the band in 1974, citing grievances over label treatment and ideological differences. Marley carried on with a new line-up, including the I-Threes that put out seven more more albums. Marley died in 1981.
The Wailers were a groundbreaking ska and reggae group, noted for songs such as "Simmer Down", "Trenchtown Rock", "Nice Time", "War", "Stir It Up" and "Get Up, Stand Up".

The Dubs: Dreamland Version
Bob Marley & The Wailers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So far across the sea (repeat)
To have you all, my dreamland
Would be like heaven to me (repeat)
We'll get our breakfast from the tree
We'll get our honey from the bees
We'll take a ride on the waterfalls
And we'll live together on that dreamland
And have so much fun (repeat)
Oh, what a time that will be
Oh yes, we'll wait, wait, wait and see
We'll count the stars up in the sky...
...And surely we'll never die
In Bob Marley & Lee "Scratch" Perry's song Dreamland, the lyrics describe a utopian land far across the sea. The land, referred to as "dreamland," is a land where they will get their breakfast from the tree, their honey from the bees, and take a ride on the waterfalls. It is a land where all the glories are available, where they can live and have fun together. The lyrics highlight that the dreamland is like heaven, and it would be like heaven to have all of them together. The song promises a time where they can count stars in the sky and never die.
The lyrics of the song "Dreamland" represent an escape from reality for Bob Marley & Lee "Scratch" Perry, envisioning an ideal and harmonious world. The paradise depicted in the song represents a place where they are free from the mundane and are freed to embrace life to the fullest. The idea is to create a hope or longing for a world different from the harsh one that exists around them, where they can enjoy life to the fullest.
