Darin was a very special and talented entertainer. He was a Grammy award winning singer ('Mack The Knife'), a respected member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ('Dream Lover', 'Splish Splash', 'If I Were A Carpenter') a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, a successful record producer, an Oscar nominated actor and a strong supporter of the American Heart Association. Bobby was married to actress Sandra Dee from 1960-1967. They had one son, Dodd, born in December 1961. As a result of complications from a rheumatic heart, Bobby's life was tragically cut short in 1973.
Darin's mother, Vanina Cassotto, had given birth to him when she was 16, and as a result, her parents raised Darin as though he were their son while Vanina was presented off as his elder sister. Darin did not learn the truth about his parentage until he was 32.

Amy
Lovely as indigo
You only kissed me
And paradise smiled
And the man was a child
And the wind was+ so wild.
Here's what I mean to say
Love me
If only for today
Let me know April and indigo blue
And let paradise smile for me, too.
Amy
Here's what I mean to say
Love me
If only for today
Let me know April and indigo blue
And let paradise smile for me, too.
Let me know April and indigo blue
And let paradise smile for me, too
The lyrics of "Amy" by Bobby Darin is a love song about a woman named Amy. In the first stanza, the singer describes Amy as being "soft as the April snow" and "lovely as indigo." These beautiful, colorful and visual descriptions suggest that Amy is an individual who is unique and special. The singer then goes on to mention that when Amy kissed him, it brought a feeling of paradise and made him feel like a child. This could mean that Amy brings joy and happiness to the singer's life and makes him feel young again. The final line of the first stanza, "and the wind was so wild" may also suggest that there is a sense of spontaneity and excitement that Amy brings into the singer's life.
In the second stanza, the singer pleads with Amy to love him, if only for today. He wants to experience the joy and happiness that he felt when he kissed her again. He mentions that he wants to experience "April and indigo blue" which could mean he wants to experience the colors and vibrance of springtime, and again feels that paradise can smile on him through her love. The repetition of the "let paradise smile for me too" reinforces the idea that Amy brings happiness and joy in the singer's life.
