Four years on, Rdtr shows a slightly more subdued Bogus Blimp returning to the grind. If there aren’t any heavy metal stabs to be found here, the atmosphere is as dark and unsettling as ever. Claustrophobic poetry is scattered all over this album and underpins the oppressive nature of these sonic constructions, especially on Automated Bathroom, and ever more so on Going Commercial, where Mona’s voice crawls under the skin and infects the mind by telling a banal story through relentless questioning. Yet, Rdtr introduces a slightly more playful approach to the general sonic structure within which the band evolves. Although this remains very discreet, hints can be perceived through lighter and more accessible melodies and arrangements, giving this album a more respectable face. But this is only for show as behind the scene, the band is busy twisting it all and playing games with the listener's mind.
Officially terminated as a collective late 2004. Some ex-members still continue as Det Är Jag Som Är Döden and Diktafon.
Under the Sea
Bogus Blimp Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It does not feel real.
I can not hear clear, but I see:
I am becoming just like M and P,
but on the bottom of the sea.
Take me away.
Rush through the veins.
Drowsy. So drowsy.
The lyrics to "Under the Sea" by Bogus Blimp appear to be exploring a theme of losing touch with reality and descending into a state of numbness or detachment. The opening lines suggest a sense of dissociation from the present moment, as the singer describes feeling numb and unable to fully experience the world around them. The repeated phrase "it does not feel real" amplifies this sense of disconnection, as if the singer is struggling to connect with their own emotions and sensations.
The subsequent lines reference the initials "M and P," which could potentially be a reference to specific people or ideas that are leading the singer deeper into their dissociative state. However, the line that follows suggests a more metaphorical interpretation: "but on the bottom of the sea." This image of sinking into the depths of the ocean could symbolize a descent into the unconscious mind or into a state of emotional oblivion.
The final lines of the song offer a somewhat ambiguous resolution to this state of mind. The repetition of "drowsy" and "happy" suggest a kind of blissful contentment, yet the overall tone of the song remains somewhat melancholic and resigned. The singer seems to be accepting their state of mind rather than trying to fight it, perhaps indicating a larger theme of coming to terms with one's own inner world.
