In 1984 and 1985, Bon Jovi released their first two albums and their debut single "Runaway" managed to crack the Top 40. In 1986, the band achieved widespread success and global recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet, which sold over 20 million copies and included three Top 10 singles, two of which reached No. 1 ("You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer") Their fourth album, New Jersey (1988), was also very successful, selling over 10 million copies and featuring five Top 10 singles (a record for a glam metal album), two of which reached No. 1 ("Bad Medicine" and "I'll Be There for You"). After the band toured and recorded extensively during the late 1980s, culminating in the 1988–1990 New Jersey Tour, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora released successful solo albums in 1990 and 1991, respectively.
In 1992, the band returned with the double-platinum Keep the Faith. This was followed by their biggest-selling and longest-charting single "Always" (1994) and the album These Days (1995), which proved to be a bigger success in Europe than in the United States, producing four Top Ten singles in the United Kingdom. Following a second hiatus, their 2000 album Crush, particularly the lead single, "It's My Life", successfully introduced the band to a younger audience, and the band considered this their comeback album. The band followed up with Bounce in 2002. The platinum albums Have a Nice Day (2005) and Lost Highway (2007) saw the band incorporate elements of country music into some of the songs, including the 2006 single "Who Says You Can't Go Home", which won the band a Grammy Award and became the first single by a rock band to reach No. 1 on the country charts. The Circle (2009) marked a return to the band's rock sound. The band also enjoyed great success touring, with both the 2005–2006 Have a Nice Day Tour and 2007–2008 Lost Highway Tour ranking among the Top 20 highest-grossing concert tours of the 2000s. After recording and releasing Because We Can in 2013, lead guitarist Richie Sambora left the band just before an April concert during the supporting tour to spend more time with his family. The band released their first studio album without Sambora, Burning Bridges, in 2015 and the follow-up album This House Is Not for Sale in 2016, the tour for which encompassed 2017–2019. Their most recent album 2020 (2020) was re-worked to include songs inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic and George Floyd protests; its supporting tour was delayed to 2022.
Bon Jovi consisting of frontman Jon Bon Jovi, drummer Tico Torres, keyboardist David Bryan, lead guitarist Phil X, bassist Hugh McDonald and guitarist John Shanks have unveiled a video for the lead single “Legendary” from their upcoming studio album Forever, which will be released on June 7, 2024. Forever is the follow up to Bon Jovi‘s studio album 2020, which was released back on October 2, 2020.
Bon Jovi has released 15 studio albums, five compilations and three live albums. They have sold more than 120 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling American rock bands, and performed more than 2,700 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans. Bon Jovi was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006, and into the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. The band received the Award of Merit at the American Music Awards in 2004, and Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were inducted into Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.

Born To Be My Baby
Bon Jovi Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
We both got jobs 'cause there's bills to pay
We got something they can't take away
Our love, our lives
Close the door, leave the cold outside
I don't need nothing when I'm by your side
We got something that'll never die
My heart beats like a drum (all night)
Flesh to flesh, one to one (and it's alright)
And I'll never let go cause
There's something I know deep inside
You were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man
We got something to believe in
Even if we don't know where we stand
Only God would know the reasons
But I bet he must have had a plan
'Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man
Light a candle, blow the world away
Table for two on a TV tray
It ain't fancy, baby that's OK
Our time, our way
So hold me close better hang on tight
Buckle up, baby, it's a bumpy ride
We're two kids hitching down the road of life
Our world, our fight
If we stand side by side (all night)
There's a chance we'll get by (and it's alright)
And I'll know that you'll be live
In my heart 'til the day that I die
'Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man
We got something to believe in
Even if we don't know where we stand
Only God would know the reasons
But I bet he must have had a plan
'Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man
My heart beats like a drum (all night)
Flesh to flesh, one to one (and it's alright)
And I'll never let go cause
There's something I know deep inside
'Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man
We got something to believe in
Even if we don't know where we stand

But I bet he must have had a plan
'Cause you were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man
You were born to be my baby
And baby, I was made to be your man
"Born To Be My Baby" by Bon Jovi is a song about a couple who have to work hard to make ends meet, but still find love and happiness in each other. The song begins with the couple coming home after a hard day's work, and realizing that their love and life is worth more than any material possession. They have dreams and pride that will never be taken away from them. The chorus of the song talks about how the girl was born to be the man's baby, and how he was made to be her man. They have something to believe in, even though they don't know where they stand. The man believes that God had a plan for them to be together, which is why they were born to be each other's.
The lyrics then talk about a small romantic moment shared by the couple, where they light a candle and have dinner together. The man tells the woman to hold on tight, as their journey through life may be bumpy, but they can get through it together. If they stand together, there's a chance they'll be able to survive. The song ends with the man reaffirming that the woman was born to be his baby, and he was made to be her man.
Overall, "Born To Be My Baby" is an uplifting love song that emphasizes the importance of love and support in a relationship. It reminds the listener that even when life is tough, having someone to lean on makes all the difference.

@Fritha71
Whenever I watch this video, my mind is cast back to December 1988, just before Christmas. I was a seventeen year old huge Bon Jovi fan here in Finland. This is what I wrote in my Bon Jovi diary on the day I first saw it:
*December 17 1988
I saw the video for Born to Be My Baby… I couldn't help but cry while looking at it because there, captured on film, were all the things I had longed to see: the affection, the camaraderie, Jonny…
The video was shot in black and white and in some ways it was very plain, the concept being very basic: the guys are in the studio and supposedly recording 'Baby. But all the rest of it! All that which most people won't detect and understand; with Jonny and Richie singing in the same mic "…you were born to be my baby…" while looking at each other, both smiling and Christ, just really LOVING each other. One can detect it so clearly… The other lovely moment occurred when Jon was hugging this girl - not sure who it was but the hug was a warm one… The kind of hug I would like to have from him, as well. And at that moment he was open for everyone to see.
So yeah, I really liked the video a lot. I grew attached to it already.*
Once in a while I go back and read my diary from those days and smile to myself. Ah, the golden 80s =)

you can't but help think about it
jon is only around 7 - 10 older than i am , and i dread the day he passes.
i hope he lives to like 100 and i live to around 87 or so , so i don't have to see it
