Sweet Lorraine
Bostic Earl Lyrics

Can't believe it yet, but it's true,
I'll give you just one guess,
My sweet Lorraine said "yes"
Waiting for the time, soon to be,
When the bells will chime merrily,
(I'm so happy,) when it's raining I don't miss the sun,
Just think that I'm the lucky one
Who will lend her down the aisle
Each night I pray
That nobody steals her heart away,
Just can't wait until that happy day,
When I marry sweet Lorraine
Everything is set, skies are blue,
Can't believe it yet, but it's true,
I'll give you just one guess,
My sweet Lorraine said "yes"
Waiting for the time, soon to be,
When the bells will chime merrily,
(I'm so happy,) when it's raining I don't miss the sun,
For it's in my sweeties smile,
Just think that I'm the lucky one
Who will lend her down the aisle
Each night I pray
That nobody steals her heart away,
Just can't wait until that happy day,
When I marry sweet Lorraine
The song Sweet Lorraine is a song about the joy and excitement of love and commitment. The singer is thrilled that his beloved, Lorraine, has accepted his proposal and will be marrying him soon. He is so happy that he doesn't miss the sun even when it is raining, because the smile of his sweetie is enough to brighten his day. He knows that he is the lucky one to have found her and anxiously awaits their wedding day. He prays that nobody will steal her heart away before they can be married.
The lyrics are full of hope and anticipation, as the singer looks forward to a bright and happy future with his beloved. The repeated refrain of "everything is set, skies are blue, can't believe it yet, but it's true" emphasizes his disbelief that he has found someone so wonderful and his excitement for what is to come. The lyrics highlight the joy that love brings, and how it can make even the rainiest of days feel sunny and bright.
Overall, Sweet Lorraine is a timeless ode to the thrill of new love and the promise of a happy future. It celebrates the joy that comes with finding someone special and the excitement of anticipation as a couple prepares to make a lifelong commitment to each other.

Earl Palmer played drums for Earl Bostic. Bill Jones was a singer with him. I used to dance to his music in high school. I always loved his playing. Thanks for posting this stuff. Just swings!

If you want to hear Earl Bostic really exhibit his complete mastery of the alto, then find a copy of his "Bugle Call Rag". You won't believe the improvisation Earl could put out . He played alto at another level. dixiejak

I played alto and I tried my best to copy Earl's tone, but all that came out was Lawence Welk. What a lovely, unique tone! deralteist

That great raspy tone is a trademark he had that I have never heard from any other sax player. He had a way of blending multiple lines into a long unbroken segment that I have never heard from anyone else as well. too bad he had to leave us so soon but his music will endure forever.

What can one say about his command of an instrument that is asy to play badly. Brilliant.
