Ratking
Boston Manor Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Slam that door one more time I swear to god.
If you want to change the world you're doing it wrong.
You always knew just how to get under my skin.
It's not that I don't understand, I just don't fit in.

Don't call me a freak, I'm just not feeling this.

I don't care what you think, keep it to yourself.
Tell me what I want to hear just like everyone else.
You always knew just how to get under my skin.
It's not that I don't understand, I just don't fit in.

Don't call me a freak, I'm just not feeling this.

I promise you you'll be fine, baby give it some time.
This could all be a simulation still.
I'm still tryna be clean, if you know what I mean.
Got to take it one day at a time.

Don't call me a freak I'm just not feeling this.

(So don't call me a freak, I'll scream it loud on my feet.
Gotta take it one day at a time).

Overall Meaning

Boston Manor's song Ratking is a reflection of the feeling of being an outsider or a misfit in a world where there are societal expectations and stereotypes to conform to. The opening line, "Slam that door one more time I swear to god" sets the tone for the song, conveying frustration and tension with the people and the world. The lyrics, "If you want to change the world you're doing it wrong, You always knew just how to get under my skin" reveal the singer, feeling disillusioned about their role in the world and the people around them who see them as weird or different. They feel like they are not given an equal chance to fit in and be accepted.

The line "Don't call me a freak, I'm just not feeling this" expresses that the singer does not want to be labeled just because they do not follow societal norms. They want to be accepted for who they are without being judged. The lyricist is acknowledging the feeling of being an outcast and wanting acceptance while also calling out the people who are trying to fit them into a box they do not belong in. The lyrics, "Tell me what I want to hear just like everyone else" address the issue of people being fake and conforming to be accepted by others.

In conclusion, Ratking hints at a sense of confusion, isolation, and the search for identity. The singer wants to be heard and understood, to not be judged, and to live their life according to their terms. The song speaks to anyone who has ever felt misplaced, like they don't belong, and feel pressured to conform to the norm.

I love how all 4 singles on the album so far are so unique. Everything is ordinary is such a different sound that many seem to enjoy including myself, liquid is a softer side of bm, on a high ledge is obviously a personal experience of Henry’s and much more emotional, and ratking personally just sounds 100% like classic bm. Loving each track so far. Can’t wait for the full length
