Long Shot
Brazos Lyrics

I've been hiding
in this bag of bones
in this dream where no one comes
to wake me up
so long so long
chemical inversion
riding on a long shot and the future's loud
giants surround me wispy in the den
like ice aged animals my foreign friends
we all go feed under the halo
wide eyes meet great white grins
riding on a long shot and the future's loud
do you hear it? do you see me as I really am?
can you tell me from the crowd?
The lyrics of "Long Shot" by Brazos delve into themes of isolation, self-discovery, and the uncertainty of the future. The opening lines, "I've been hiding in this bag of bones, in this dream where no one comes to wake me up" suggest a sense of hiding or feeling invisible within oneself. The metaphor of a bag of bones implies a sense of emptiness or fragility, while the dream where no one comes to wake the singer up implies a state of disconnection from others.
The line "chemical inversion, smiling like a blacktop cause my mind's made up" seems to allude to a change in mindset or perspective. It hints at a transformation, where the singer is taking control, regardless of the uncertain circumstances. The phrase "smiling like a blacktop" may signify a facade or forced positivity despite the tough exterior.
The second paragraph introduces the idea of giants surrounding the singer, depicting them as "wispy in the den" and "like ice aged animals." This imagery suggests that these giants could represent internal struggles or metaphorical obstacles that the singer faces. The mention of "foreign friends" implies a sense of unfamiliarity or alienation, perhaps suggesting a feeling of being different from those around them.
The lyrics then ask, "do you hear it? do you see me as I really am? can you tell me from the crowd?" This reflects a longing for recognition and understanding from others. The singer desires to be seen and understood for who they truly are amidst the multitude of people around them. It reflects a yearning for connection and a fear of being lost or overlooked.
Overall, "Long Shot" by Brazos explores themes of self-identity, isolation, and the uncertainty of the future. The lyrics express a desire to break free from hiding and be recognized, while acknowledging the challenges that come with embracing individuality and taking risks. It captures the complexity of human emotions and the struggle to find one's place in the world.
