Anniversary
Brian Kennedy Lyrics

Not once, who can be certain, who can be sure anymore
Cause I'll tell you now that if we're not careful
If we're not careful, not just today, oh everyday
Will be an anniversary, oh everyday will be an Anniversary
Some people they find their comfort within war
Where have I seen that look before now
You can't be too careful. Cause not just today
Oh everyday will be an anniversary
Oh everyday will be an anniversary
Oh everyday will be an anniversary
Oh everyday will be an anniversary
Not before too long it seems to me there'll just be anniversaries
Oh everyday will be an anniversary
Oh everyday will be an anniversary
The song "Anniversary" by Brian Kennedy reflects on the uncertainty of life and the inevitability of anniversaries, both good and bad. The first verse suggests that perhaps the person who has entered through the doors did not think they would ever find themselves in that particular situation, highlighting the unpredictability of life. The chorus emphasizes the idea that if we’re not careful, each day can turn into an “anniversary,” either good or bad. The second verse touches on the theme of war and how some people find comfort in it, which can be a reflection of how we sometimes crave the familiar, even if it comes with pain.
In this song, the repetition of “everyday will be an anniversary” emphasizes the idea that each day is a milestone or anniversary of its own, and we should strive to find meaning and joy in each one. The repetition can also serve as a reminder to be mindful of our daily actions and the impact they have on ourselves and those around us. The final line of the song, “Not before too long it seems to me there’ll just be anniversaries,” is a poignant reminder that time passes quickly and we should make the most of our lives while we can.
