McComas later attended college, but soon dropped out to move to Nashville, Tennessee. McComas briefly signed to Mercury Records, before he landed a deal with Lyric Street in 2001, charting the singles "Night Disappear With You" and "I Could Never Love You Enough". In 2003, he landed his first Top 10, "99.9% Sure (I've Never Been Here Before)" and the follow up "You're in My Head", a #21 hit on the country charts. Another single for Lyric Street, "The Middle of Nowhere", fell short of the Top 40, and Lyric Street dropped him not long afterward. He later signed to Katapult Records, where he released Back Up Again, his second album.

So later on when I'm drivin' by
I know I can set my sail where the wind blows
Swing from a star tonight
I know you've been walkin' down another dark road
I can hold your hand real tight
Kickin' back on the corner of a cloud
And baby it'll be alright
I wanna know about the secrets you're keepin'
The ones you swore you would never tell
Know about the hot water you're deep in
Then pull you out of the well
Be the one who's makin' you hungry
Just to feed your appetite
I'm not sayin' that I gotta be the one
But baby it'll be alright
Need to give yourself a little bit of time girl
You don't need to have the answers now
There ain't gotta be a reason or a rhyme girl
That ain't what it's all about
You don't need the perfect disposition
Just to have an alibi
We both know that your heart ain't listenin'
Baby it'll be alright
Yeah baby it'll be alright
The song "It'll Be Alright" by Brian McComas is an uplifting and hopeful ballad that aims to soothe the soul of a troubled lover. The lyrics of the song invite the listener to put a candle in the window so that the singer can find his way back to her when he's driving by. The image conveys the idea that even when distances and obstacles arise, the light of hope can bring people together.
The second verse of the song addresses the pain and secrets that the lover is keeping from the singer. He acknowledges her struggles and offers to be her support system. He wants her to share her secrets with him, and he promises to pull her out of the well of troubles she's in. The metaphorical imagery of being on the corner of a cloud and swinging from a star highlights the idea that anything is possible, even when the odds are stacked against them.
The third and final verse encourages the listener to give herself some time, to not have all the answers, and to be okay with that. The singer affirms that the listener does not need to be perfect, she just needs to trust in the power of love and hope. And with this, the song comes full circle: It'll be alright.
