McComas later attended college, but soon dropped out to move to Nashville, Tennessee. McComas briefly signed to Mercury Records, before he landed a deal with Lyric Street in 2001, charting the singles "Night Disappear With You" and "I Could Never Love You Enough". In 2003, he landed his first Top 10, "99.9% Sure (I've Never Been Here Before)" and the follow up "You're in My Head", a #21 hit on the country charts. Another single for Lyric Street, "The Middle of Nowhere", fell short of the Top 40, and Lyric Street dropped him not long afterward. He later signed to Katapult Records, where he released Back Up Again, his second album.
Let Love Lead The Way

Well they snuck right up on me
Took me by surprise
Didn't know how deep they'd be
Been a long time comin'
Since somebody made me look
And stop all this runnin'
I guess you had what it took
And it's feelin' good tonight
So I'm gonna hold on tight
We can take it slow
Baby come what may
We'll just let love lead the way
I know you're just like me
You've always been in control
You'll give your time but
You won't ever bare your soul
But baby don't worry
If you need to back away
You can be sure we
Won't make any rules to how we play
But it's feelin' good tonight
So I'm gonna let it ride
We can take it slow
Baby come what may
We'll just let love lead the way
Hey I know it's overused
but we ain't got a thing to lose
We can dance all night while the music plays
We'll just let love lead the way
Yeah it's feelin' good tonight
Don't you wanna hold on tight
We can take it slow
Baby come what may
We'll just let love lead the way
And I know it's overused
But we ain't got a thing to lose
We can dance all night while the music plays
And we'll let love lead the way
Let it lead the way
The lyrics of Brian McComas's Let Love Lead The Way express the feelings of someone who has unexpectedly found love. The first verse describes how the person was caught unawares by the love of their life, portrayed as having expressive brown eyes that they didn't realize had the power to captivate them. Although it's been a long time since someone has made them stop running from their feelings, they were finally able to do so after encountering the person with the brown eyes.
The second verse talks about the other person's reluctance to expose themselves emotionally, but the main character assures them that they don't need to worry about that. They want to take things slow and let the natural course of love unfold without any rules or restrictions. It feels good to be with the person, and they are content to follow where love leads them. The chorus emphasizes this relaxed and spontaneous approach to their newfound love, describing how they don't have anything to lose and just want to dance all night and savor the moment.
Overall, the song portrays a sense of joyous surrender to love, and a willingness to let it guide and direct their path. It highlights the beauty of embracing the unknown and living in the present moment without overthinking or overanalyzing things.
