Tell Slater Not To Wash His D**k
Bring Me the Horizon Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I've been away for every day and every fucking night.
I've seen your eyes, I've seen your eyes, I've seen your eyes.
I've been away for every day and every fucking night.
And with every city, it gets harder.

You gotta mouth like a razor-blade. it cuts so deep.
So kiss my wrists my neck and give me eternal sleep.
You say, you say, I'm only a phone call away.
But for me, this distance is decay.
So line my throat with lipstick and leave my blood for flies.
I'll gurgle the blues under a sea of lies.
Before you take me to sea, let me kiss the bride.
Now take my body to the shore and ill wait for the tide.

I will always love you. but I need pills to sleep
I have always failed you. so throw away my memories.

So throw away my memories

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Bring Me the Horizon's song Tell Slater Not To Wash His D**k are an emotional and raw exploration of the singer's feelings of detachment and desperation. The lines, "I've been away for every day and every fucking night" and "And with every city, it gets harder" paint a portrait of a life on the road and a sense of isolation that may come with it. The repetition of "I've seen your eyes" emphasizes a longing for connection with someone familiar.

The next verse takes on a darker tone, with the line "You gotta mouth like a razor-blade. it cuts so deep" suggesting that someone close to the singer is causing them pain with their words. The plea to "kiss my wrists my neck and give me eternal sleep" is a striking image of self-harm and suicide, hinting that the source of the singer's pain may be internal.

The rest of the lyrics continue to explore themes of distance and despair, with references to lipstick and blood adding vivid imagery to the song's already intense emotions. Overall, Tell Slater Not To Wash His D**k is a powerful and emotional song that explores some of the darkest aspects of the human experience.

My favorite song of theirs, the musicianship in this song is fantastic. Definitely some of their best riffs. The riffs at 0:30 (also 0:47) and 1:05 are fucking beautiful.

Those riffs are inspired by At the Gates. Thanks to those guys, I can enjoy early BMTH.
