Vice
Brothel Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You know I'll find you dead or alive
But I'll be back before the end of tonight
I shut the door and put that shit in drive
Hatred in my veins and bloodshot eyes

Escape me
And face me
And put you in your place
So chance me
Erase me
Look me in my face

But I don't mind this type of violence like I've done it all before
I'm a victim of myself meet me in hell forever more

I’m Canadian. In 2005, I was 21 and living in the South of France after uni grad, a man approached me while I was alone at the beach. He wasn’t creepy and he talked to me at least 30 mins. Finally, he revealed that he had recently “won the lotto” and wanted to give some of his winnings 800 Euro, to nice young ppl after his original plan of donating to the local charity was ruined after he saw the youth outside drinking. I was utterly naive and felt flattered. I told him repeatedly tho, I couldn’t take money destined for charity and that if I needed money, I’d ask my parents. He was so very insistent and eventually asked if I was scared and not to be because his wife was back at their van too (where I was to go get the cash).

Well. I’m around to write this comment (now 38) but I have to say, when I called my parents that night, so pleased that someone thought I was such a nice girl, I deserved to be given money, they FREAKED out and told me he was probably a human trafficker.

Thank God I came from a middle class household with sufficient money and a good job working for the French gov. So many girls, who were poorer would have taken the bait out of genuine need for money.

Edit: Some folks have interpreted from my story that I was 100% naive back then. Though broad day light sex trafficker grooming was not on my radar, I was super safety conscious in other ways. Way more so than all the girls I knew. Things I was doing to stay safe:
1) Never sharing drinks and walking around bars and parties covering the top of my cup, always. (To avoid being drugged). I seriously looked like a weirdo walking and dancing with cup 100% covered.
2) Only walking in well lit areas.
3) Never getting drunk because that would allow anyone to take advantage of me.
4) Avoiding areas where creepy men congregated. There where a couple streets I had to pass to get to work and there were a bunch of creepy Algerian men who loitered around. I started covering my hair to present as a Muslim woman, so that they would leave me alone.
5) Never trusted any men we met at bars or discos. I constantly counselled the other girls not to go make out with these guys they’d meet.
6) Walked at night with my keys in my fist so that if I had to hit someone, I could stab them in the eyes with my keys.
7) Learned self defence to be able to get away from an attacker.
8) Walked around with a “don’t mess with me”, strong energy. I learned from Oprah that kidnappers go for the easiest victims so exuding tough energy makes you less likely to be grabbed.

My point is that even for a girl following all the safety rules, I was still not expecting what he did. Nobody was talking about sex trafficking 15 years ago. Still, I tell ppl this story all the time so they can tell their loved ones. Ppl don’t assume it plays out this innocently, which is the beauty of the scam!

Great job guys, but unfortunately this problem
isn’t going away anytime soon, since powerful
figures are involved in it.
Thanks for also making the distinction between
someone who’s a prostitute on her own will, and
those who are victims of sex trafficking.
It’s a bit like with drugs; as long as there’s a market,
the problem isn’t going away. Maybe the solution
(Which would at least make the situation better)
would be a legalization. Can’t understand why is
it so difficult to do. It’s 2022 for god’s sake! 🤯

How can we expect the laws to change when the people passing legislation are also engaged in this behaviour?

@Derty_the_grower

The top politicians are doing insider trading on corrupt million dollar a day levels (Pelosi of USA) and she is 75 and cant even drive a car but she is doing all these laws and such to cater her pockets.. same with McConnel and the prince who was busted with Bill Clinton on the island with epstein girl, in photos all over the web. They rather report this, something we all know about, instead of real reporting on corrupt top politicians, because they are threatened with jail thats why!

@TheBigZam

@@Derty_the_grower Yeah no, you need evidence.

Trump had a history of fraud and paying out of court and yet 30-40% of the USA voted for him.

@TheBigZam

@@Derty_the_grower Also it's not just 'jail'

My father went into business with a Honduran gang and due to that went into hiding for years.
Imagine being a whistle blower on a powerful Politician, jail is the least of your worries. More like waking up chained to the floor with fingers missing.
