Guy is known for his showmanship; for example, he plays with drumsticks and walks into the audience whilst playing, the latter being a gimmick he picked up from a local blues guitarist at an early age (joining or leaping into the audience has also long been common in both American popular and gospel music, as in the earlier work of Big Jay McNeely or the Dixie Hummingbirds).
Guy grew up in Louisiana where he learned to play guitar. In the early 1950s he began performing with bands in Baton Rouge. Soon after moving to Chicago in 1957, Guy fell under the influence of "Mighty" Muddy Waters. In 1958 he won a record contract with Artistic Records after beating the West Side guitarists Magic Sam and Otis Rush in a "Head Cutting Contest" at the Blue Flame Club. Soon afterwards he recorded for the Cobra label.
In the early 1960s, Guy was a session guitarist for Chess Records. He recorded on Junior Wells sessions for Delmark Records under the pseudonym Friendly Chap in 1965 and 1966. His career took off during a blues revival period in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and was sparked by Eric Clapton's request that Guy be part of the '24 nights' all-star blues guitar lineup at London's Royal Albert Hall and Guy's subsequent signing with Silvertone Records.
Let It Show
Buddy Guy Lyrics

Each and every day
I would not havin'
Any other way
My mother she taught me
How to show you my love
Because my way's in action
Put your arms around my waist
And look direct in my face
And I'll show you I love you
And no one else can take your place
Let me show you I love you
Each and every day
Because I would not never havin'
Any other way
Put your arms around my waist
And look me direct in my face
And I'll show you I love you
And no one else can take your place
In Buddy Guy's song Let It Show, the artist expresses his love to his significant other. He starts off by telling them that he wants to show them his love every day and that he wouldn't want it any other way. This illustrates how important it is for him to constantly remind the person he loves how he feels about them. He then proceeds to say that his mother taught him how to show love through action, rather than words. This not only shows the influence his mother had on him, but also his belief that actions speak louder than words.
The artist then goes on to ask his significant other to put their arms around his waist and look him directly in the face so he can show them that he loves them. This portrays his desire to physically express his love and affection towards his loved one. He concludes by repeating the chorus, reiterating that he wants to show his love each and every day and that there is no other way for him.
Overall, the song is a beautiful and heartfelt expression of love through action. It emphasizes the importance of not just saying "I love you," but also showing it through gestures and actions.
