Cold Sleep
Bury Tomorrow Lyrics

Inside the pale state, reality snapped
I'm really not sure how long I′ve been like this
To realise nothing I do will effect it
Messages in dreams
Take me far from here
Drifting from life
Messages in dreams
Take me far from here
Drifting from life
I disappear
My world is upside down
Cold sleep is all I've found
Pressing on my chest and I can't speak
I am so weak
As a light in the dark I drown
Consumed by what′s around
Like a man in the fog I ran
Forgetting all I can
Slow it down, slow it down
Let me catch my breath
Slow it down, slow it down
No end to this rest
Will the night ever end, will the sands ever stop?
All I know right now is I need to wake up
Wake up
Messages in dreams
Take me far from here
Drifting from life
I disappear
My world is upside down
Cold sleep is all I′ve found
Pressing on my chest and I can't speak
I am so weak
As a light in the dark I drown
Consumed by what′s around
Like a man in the fog I ran
Forgetting all I can
It's nothing
It′s nowhere
It's darker than night
It′s frozen air
Nothing
Nowhere
It's darker than night
It's frozen air
My world is upside down
Cold sleep is all I′ve found
Pressing on my chest and I can′t speak
I am so weak
As a light in the dark I drown
Consumed by what's around
Like a man in the fog I ran
Forgetting all I can
The lyrics of "Cold Sleep" by Bury Tomorrow convey a sense of disorientation and confusion. The singer describes feeling trapped in a "pale state," with reality seemingly snapped. The messages in their dreams take them away from their current state, causing them to drift away from life itself. They feel weak, their chest pressed on, and they cannot speak. They are consumed by their surroundings and forgetful of everything that is happening around them. They beg for a moment of rest, a brief pause to catch their breath before they are thrown back into frozen air and a world that seems to be upside down.
The lyrics seem to reflect a feeling of being disconnected from reality, perhaps due to depression or mental illness. The idea of messages in dreams could represent escaping reality through dreams and fantasies as a coping mechanism. The line "my world is upside down" suggests a feeling of disorientation, as if everything they once knew to be true has been turned on its head. The mention of a "pale state" and "frozen air" could also represent a state of feeling numb or frozen, unable to escape their current situation.
The chorus, with its repetition of "cold sleep is all I've found," drives home the idea that the singer is trapped in a state of emotional paralysis. The light in the dark they drown in could represent a glimmer of hope that is dimmed by the weight of their surroundings. The repeated line "nothing, nowhere, it's darker than night" could symbolize the lack of hope or direction they feel.
Overall, the lyrics of "Cold Sleep" paint a picture of someone struggling with their mental well-being, feeling trapped and isolated from the world around them.
