Burnout
C.H. District Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If I dropped off
The face of the earth
I bet they'd never notice
Cause I'm the sunshine
I'm the pearl
But only if it works for you
And when they want me
They will take me
And leave me burnt

Stop that
Pardon
I'm starving
Left Martin
I'm partin
The seas
Between you and me
The mirror that speaks
In music that seeds

Sprout up
Grow out
Live up
Live loud

I don't even know if I got any friends
Or just a buncha people looking for a means to an end
I don't even know if I care about any of this
Some people making money over fist
Some people dying over the color of they skin
How the did we normalize living like this

You product for your buddies and the neighbors
Up on top a pedestal built by layers
Of labor
Lie down
So you can take more
Whole town
Made of claymores
Burnout
Burn on

Sprout up
Grow out
Live up
Live loud

If I dropped off
The face of the earth
Flew towards the sun
And closed my eyes
Would they notice
The explosion up above
Or would their lives just carry on

Sprout up
Grow out
Live up
Live loud
Open your mind

And show
What lives inside

Overall Meaning

The song "Burnout" by C.H. District explores themes of self-doubt, isolation, and the struggle for authenticity in a world driven by materialism and superficiality. The lyrics convey a sense of invisibility and insignificance, as the singer contemplates whether anyone would notice or care if they were to disappear. The comparison of themselves to the sunshine and pearl suggests that they possess inherent value, but only if it serves the interests of others.

The line "And when they want me, they will take me and leave me burnt" speaks to the exploitative nature of relationships and how the singer feels used and discarded by others. This could refer to being taken advantage of for their talents or resources, or even in personal relationships where they are used for emotional support without receiving reciprocation.

The second verse reflects on the singer's uncertainty about their social connections. They question whether their acquaintances are genuine friends or merely people looking to benefit from their association. The lyrics also touch upon social issues such as inequality and systemic racism, expressing frustration at the normalization of such injustices.

The repetition of "Sprout up, grow out, live up, live loud" serves as a mantra, urging the singer and listeners to rise above the circumstances and societal pressures that weigh them down. The closing lines highlight the importance of opening one's mind and embracing the inner self, advocating for self-expression and the unveiling of one's true identity.

Overall, "Burnout" delves into the complexities of navigating relationships, grappling with identity, and confronting the harsh realities of the world we live in.

I have such hectic dating burnout...like feeling it in my soul. My goodness...such simple yet powerful advice! Why didn't I think of this? 🤣🤣 thanks so much for this. Still trying to sort out certain areas of my life and hoping that when the pandemic subsides and I can move to a new city to start an exciting new job, I'll be ready to get back out there!

Great advice Mark! I believe burnout comes from the "infatuation" stages..i think its the 'new' feeling..too many rely on and expectations on that first date. I think when you're on that high, you expect something even greater after. I say just roll with whatever comes after that first greet whether it be great or not! This is why i don't Rely on that feeling in general cause u never know which way it will go! Just Keep on moving, eventually you'll meet that one that will CONTINUE to be great through out! That's just my thoughts!! Excellent, excellent concepts here tho!! 😊😊😊👍👍👍

Yeh I think you bring out an excellent, well thought out point here. The swings of dating, now I think about it, tend to happen more with clients who get their hopes up sooner... while clients who haven't had the burnout... or had it less intensely, have been more pragmatic/slower in their approach. I spoke about Jess in another video, and she struggled with burnout alot, because, as you say, she tended to go in quickly, while I was always encouraging her to recover and relax. Even a little action could be too much at times. This is where we go back to attachment styles and individuals values and fears and I find those clients who place a really high value on family and who have more anxious attachment styles tend to be the ones with more burnout issues.

Mark, I don't know how you do it but you're always in time! Thank you a mil for your advices!

On point with this video. Wasn’t only feeling like this towards dating, but also with work. Needed the reminder of being resilient and to take a breath when things are getting a bit overwhelming. Thanks for the video Mark!
