The track was recorded in Nashville with producer Matt McClure (Lee Brice, Dylan Scott, Kellie Pickler) and is quoted “a smash hit the second I heard it” from Music Row reporter, Greg Almond.
Early in 2017, Cox released a music video for his track, “Just Me” which will be on his self-titled EP this October. “Just Me” was featured on various country music platforms paved the way for his music video for "Lie" which released late August. Cox is leaving his mark on the charts with "Lie" rapidly climbing into the top 80's within his first month.
In addition to touring around the south east, the NC native was most recently performing with Carnival Cruise Lines but “happy to be on land for a while”. Stay tuned for what’s next for this exciting up and comer, Canaan Cox.

But something about the vibe
Ain't hittin' you just right
I can see it on your face, you've had a long week
By the way you keep looking at me
I'll grab the tab, you can finish that drink
Let's ditch this scene
Any of those city streets
Nothing in the middle of you and me
But the song blaring through the radio
Got you singing a little off key
Wanna see you dance in those bare feet
In the middle of nowhere know on knows
We're gonna take
We're gonna take the long way home
We're gonna take
We're gonna take the long way home
We don't need the glow of the neon lights
Cause I'd take your moonlight eyes
Over any southern sky
Roll the windows down and just let go
Get a little lost on those back roads
And I'll be the crowd, and you'll be the show
You got me sittin' front row
We can go out where we can't see
Any of those city streets
Nothing in the middle of you and me
But the song blaring through the radio
Got you singing a little off key
Wanna see you dance in those bare feet
In the middle of nowhere know on knows
We're gonna take
We're gonna take the long way home
Out in the middle of nowhere
Girl, I'm gonna take you there
We can go out where we can't see
Any of those city streets
Nothing in the middle of you and me
But the song blaring through the radio
Got you singing a little off key
Wanna see you dance in those bare feet
In the middle of nowhere know on knows
We're gonna take
We're gonna take the long way home
The song "Long Way Home" by Canaan Cox is a romantic ballad about escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and spending a quiet, intimate evening with your loved one. The song begins with the singer noticing that his partner is not enjoying the night out, despite the good music. He suggests that they leave and go to a place where they can be alone together without any distractions. The lyrics paint a picture of rolling down the windows and enjoying the fresh air while driving down the back roads with no destination in mind.
The chorus of the song repeats twice, emphasizing the idea that they are going to take the scenic route home, instead of the regular, direct path. The listener can imagine the couple driving through winding roads, singing along to the radio, and enjoying the simple things in life. The song ends with the singer promising to take his partner out to the middle of nowhere and make her feel special.
Overall, "Long Way Home" is a sweet and dreamy song about the power of escaping the busy life and finding solace in the company of someone you love.
