Her critically acclaimed performances are nothing short of spectacular. She runs the gamut from “howling siren” to the performer of ethereal confessional tales, disbanding all concepts of musical tags. It is no wonder she has shared stages with an array of diverse artists such as Annie Lennox, Billy Corgan, Maynard James Keenan, Ryan Adams, Elbow, The Gutter Twins, Snow Patrol, Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff), Mark Eitzel, and the legendary James Brown.
Growing up in Wolverhampton, England, Carina, starting from a very young age, always had an affinity towards music and began to follow her musical dreams. Never losing sight of her goals, her determination and passion led to the recording of her first album The First Blood Mystery (2001). Shaped in the erratic but gripping sounds, her love of legends Patti Smith and Jeff Buckley resonates undeniably.
The follow-up and Interscope re-released debut album: The Disconnection (2004) took those influences into much more powerful and personal realms. It landed Carina worldwide exposure in the process, which ultimately brought her career to Los Angeles, California. The relocation proved worthwhile. For Slow Motion Addict (2007), Carina teamed up with notable producer Glen Ballard to create a bewitching and seductive new album. Accompanying the release was a 12-part episodic series that cleverly coincided with each track, creating a visual story for the album. It gave Carina another medium to showcase her artistic ability by acting and starring as the troubled lead character, Maisie Scarlett.
Two years later, Carina self-released the EP Things You Should Know in 2009 that resulted in more critical success, having multiple film & TV shows feature her music as well as multiple radio stations, including KCRW, champion her music. Opportunities came flooding in to work with other artists Carina has admired over the years.
Since 2009 she is also a member of the band Puscifer, the Solo-Project of Tool- and A Perfect Circle-Vocalist Maynard James Keenan, contributing the female and 2nd voice in live shows and on albums of the band. She also sang vocals on The Twilight Singers new album ‘Dynamite Steps’ along with other artists Nick McCabe (The Verve), Mark Lanegan, and Ani DiFranco, among others. In addition to this, Carina moved into the world of composing and writing for film, working with the award winning film composers John Debney and Glen Ballard on a song that was composed for the film Valentine’s Day, writing with Academy Award winner Marco Beltrami, as well as various others.
In one of Carina’s co-writing sessions for film & TV, a band was created called Early Winters with EMI Canadian artist Justin Rutledge, L.A. producer/musician Dan Burns and multi-instrumentalist Zac Rae. The band is an indie rock band with touches of country and folk flare, which draw comparisons to Neko Case and the Swell Season.
All of these projects were an inspirational stepping stone for Carina to completing her newest album Tigermending which was released May 1st 2012 through her label Dehisce. On the new track ‘Got To Go (The L.A Song) features Smashing Pumpkins’ front man Billy Corgan playing guitar and she co-wrote the haunting track ‘The Secret of Drowning’ with the legendary Dave Stewart and Brian Eno.
Comparisons are frequently drawn to PJ Harvey, though Round would contend that she is more directly influenced by Patti Smith.

Monument
Carina Round Lyrics

Cast a shadow of this chance
Hanging over Gare do Nord like I never asked for more
Statues on the building tops
Stooping for the fire we got
Heart's new incantation
Your face bared to the sheer moonlight
Time flies and I'm here to ride
Red lights, cars zoom past, New York had a heart attack
Screaming into a new world
Sunrise at Sacre Coeur, I turn to move into the church
Silence wraps around my head like everything I've never said
My heart is reeling, opening to let me in
New day's illumination
Will it rain then and drown this out?
I could die here and never be found out
Sweat freezes on my face
Moving forward from this place
Screaming into a new world
I'm not looking for answers at a time like this
I can feel this moment
For once let it come
Let it, oh God, let it come
Well, it's protect or sacrifice
Waste my time thinking twice
Redirect back to earth
I never knew less than a heartbreaker
Torn down monument
Never be the same again
My new destination
Struck down silhouette
Conscience fade to black
Burn out your blood so blessed in your military dress
Heaven's incandescent glow, honourable way to go
Screaming... I go screaming into a new world...
The song "Monument" by Carina Round begins with a scene that is set in Paris, France. The singer is sitting on a windowsill, and from that vantage point, she sees "a chance" cast a shadow before her. This chance is hanging over Gare do Nord and she feels like it’s too much to ask for. Looking at the statue sitting on building tops, the singer sees passion and a new hope, which is described as "Heart's new incantation." As the moon illuminates her face, she is focused on the present moment, even though she acknowledges that time flies.
The second verse of the song finds the singer roaming the streets of New York, surrounded by flashing red lights and the sounds of zooming cars. The image transitions to a sunrise at Sacre Coeur, and the singer feels as if she is moving into a church. Silence wraps around her head and she feels like she needs to say all the things she's never said before because she's opening herself up to something new. Her heart is open, and she is waiting for illumination. Even though she knows that if it rains, this experience could be drowned out, she remains present in the moment. The song ends with the singer screaming into a new world and feeling ready for anything that comes her way.
