Her critically acclaimed performances are nothing short of spectacular. She runs the gamut from “howling siren” to the performer of ethereal confessional tales, disbanding all concepts of musical tags. It is no wonder she has shared stages with an array of diverse artists such as Annie Lennox, Billy Corgan, Maynard James Keenan, Ryan Adams, Elbow, The Gutter Twins, Snow Patrol, Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff), Mark Eitzel, and the legendary James Brown.
Growing up in Wolverhampton, England, Carina, starting from a very young age, always had an affinity towards music and began to follow her musical dreams. Never losing sight of her goals, her determination and passion led to the recording of her first album The First Blood Mystery (2001). Shaped in the erratic but gripping sounds, her love of legends Patti Smith and Jeff Buckley resonates undeniably.
The follow-up and Interscope re-released debut album: The Disconnection (2004) took those influences into much more powerful and personal realms. It landed Carina worldwide exposure in the process, which ultimately brought her career to Los Angeles, California. The relocation proved worthwhile. For Slow Motion Addict (2007), Carina teamed up with notable producer Glen Ballard to create a bewitching and seductive new album. Accompanying the release was a 12-part episodic series that cleverly coincided with each track, creating a visual story for the album. It gave Carina another medium to showcase her artistic ability by acting and starring as the troubled lead character, Maisie Scarlett.
Two years later, Carina self-released the EP Things You Should Know in 2009 that resulted in more critical success, having multiple film & TV shows feature her music as well as multiple radio stations, including KCRW, champion her music. Opportunities came flooding in to work with other artists Carina has admired over the years.
Since 2009 she is also a member of the band Puscifer, the Solo-Project of Tool- and A Perfect Circle-Vocalist Maynard James Keenan, contributing the female and 2nd voice in live shows and on albums of the band. She also sang vocals on The Twilight Singers new album ‘Dynamite Steps’ along with other artists Nick McCabe (The Verve), Mark Lanegan, and Ani DiFranco, among others. In addition to this, Carina moved into the world of composing and writing for film, working with the award winning film composers John Debney and Glen Ballard on a song that was composed for the film Valentine’s Day, writing with Academy Award winner Marco Beltrami, as well as various others.
In one of Carina’s co-writing sessions for film & TV, a band was created called Early Winters with EMI Canadian artist Justin Rutledge, L.A. producer/musician Dan Burns and multi-instrumentalist Zac Rae. The band is an indie rock band with touches of country and folk flare, which draw comparisons to Neko Case and the Swell Season.
All of these projects were an inspirational stepping stone for Carina to completing her newest album Tigermending which was released May 1st 2012 through her label Dehisce. On the new track ‘Got To Go (The L.A Song) features Smashing Pumpkins’ front man Billy Corgan playing guitar and she co-wrote the haunting track ‘The Secret of Drowning’ with the legendary Dave Stewart and Brian Eno.
Comparisons are frequently drawn to PJ Harvey, though Round would contend that she is more directly influenced by Patti Smith.

Carina Round Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Here is so dull and grey after the April snow has cleared
I keep New York in mind, rain on the streets this time of year
I saw you in my mind, I conquer your forbidden land
See your treasure's inside the sea
Don't waste your time walking the sand
For your answer is under water
The light you give, oh you give
Oh the moon lights the surface
It's a shadow land that serves a purpose
For you live, how you live
Send out your thought beams
Something to lead me on my way
I used to float in your ice stream to weigh up my beauty day by day
I know broken bones don't come close to the pain of hidden truth
I caught your dream in mine, I saw us walking hand in hand
See your treasure's inside the sea
Don't waste your time walking the sand
Oh your answer is under water
You won't miss the sun you got
The light you give, oh you give
Know the moon lights a surface
It's a shadow land that serves a purpose
For you live, how you live
Oh your answer is underwater
You won't miss the sun you got the light you give oh you give, you give, you give
Oh your moon lights my surface
It's a shadow land that serves a purpose
For you live, how you live, how you live
How you live
The song "Paris" by Carina Round is a melancholic reflection on the painful truth and secrets of a relationship. The first verse of the song compares the beauty of Paris in the summertime to the dull and grey atmosphere of the singer's present location. However, the singer declares their preference for New York where it rains often, because they associate it with a memory of the person they love. The singer then mentions how they have imagined themselves "conquering" the other person's "forbidden land" (presumably, their heart), but realizes that the answers they seek lie "under water" rather than "walking the sand," indicating that the truth of the relationship is hidden deep beneath the surface.
The chorus reinforces this message of hidden truths by suggesting that the other person's answer lies "under water" and that they won't miss the "sun" they have, implying that the truth may involve sacrifice or loss. The singer acknowledges that the other person's "light" is something they value immensely, and that the "moon" lights their own "surface" (their emotional state) in a way that serves a purpose, although it is not entirely clear what that purpose is. In the second verse, the singer mentions how they used to be buoyed by the other person's presence, but have since come to realize that their relationship is full of pain and hidden truths ("broken bones don't come close to the pain of hidden truth"). Despite this realization, the singer remains drawn to the other person and still wants to be with them.
Overall, "Paris" is a poignant exploration of the thorny dynamics of a romantic relationship, highlighting the ways in which love can both heal and hurt, buoy and drown.
