Santana has was an avenue named after him as well as a statue of a guitar in the city where he was born (born in Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, México) to honour him. The family moved from there to Tijuana In La Calonia Libertad, the city on Mexico's border with California, and then San Francisco, USA. Carlos stayed in Tijuana but joined his family in San Francisco later and graduated from James Lick Middle School and Mission High School there.
Most of his musical career has been spent with Santana, the band he formed in San Francisco in 1967. His music underwent large changes in 1973 when he was introduced to the spiritual leader Sri Chinmoy, by fellow guitarist "Mahavishnu" John McLaughlin. After this he adopted the title "Devadip" which he still uses. In 1998 he formed the Milagro Foundation along with his wife Deborah, which supports disadvantaged children. Later Carlos and Deborah divorced, but the Milagro Foundation is still alive and well.
Other huge influences of Carlos Santana are both Miles Davis (with whom he maintained a big personal connection), and John Coltrane, who unfortunately passed away in 1967.

El se fue con el invierno
El se ha ido a trabajar
No me ha escrito en mucho tiempo
El dijo que volvera
Pero el tiempo paso
El ya no regreso
A nuestro hogar
La frontera marco
Su destino final
Why a mis brazos
Jamas volvio
Hoy es adios
Mañana quizas
Se que tu vas a volver
Hoy es adios mañana quizas
No hay fronteras en nuestro querer
Ya ha pasado un nuevo invierno
Desde que te vi marchar
No hay mundo mejor que el nuestro
Se que un dia volveras
Pero el tiempo paso...
La frontera marco...
Hoy es adios...
Hablado:
Vuelve hijo mio
Aqui te esperamos
Hoy es adios...
The lyrics of Carlos Santana's "Hot Tamales" reveal a story of love, loss, and the hope for reunion. The song speaks about a person who left the singer during winter and promised to return. However, time passed, and the individual did not come back. The singer wonders why the person did not return, but eventually accepts that it is time to say goodbye. The lyrics mention borders and destiny, suggesting that perhaps the person has passed away or been prevented from returning due to external factors such as immigration. Nonetheless, the singer affirms that there are no borders in their love, and that they will always be waiting for their loved one's return.
The words are poignant, and the guitar solo that accompanies them adds to the emotional intensity of the song. Carlos Santana's guitar technique is such that he can convey multiple emotions without the need for a singer. The guitar solo in "Hot Tamales" is soulful, aggressive, and passionate, mirroring the different stages of the singer's feelings throughout the song.

Ummm, no. Neither same same melodic nor rhythmic content. It's a far reach to even suggest an influence.
