Overall Meaning

In "Your Type", Carly Rae Jepsen is expressing her feelings towards a person she used to love. She admits that she knows she's just a friend to them and that calling them "mine" will never be a reality. Despite this knowledge, she can't help but still love them and constantly think about them. Jepsen expresses her frustration and desire for the person to miss her when she's not around, and begs for them to come back to the spot where they first met. It actually crushes me how underrated she is and how people refer to her as a "one-hit wonder". This album came out at an emotional time in my life and every song somewhat spoke to me. Such relatable, but cleverly written lyrics with banging productions respectively to match. It may have commercially failed, but idc, it is a phenomenal album for me - Pop at its best!

i have a feeling this is about her imagining herself performing in stadiums with huge crowds and lots of fans but in reality she's not that successful. like "i'm not the type of girl for you" meaning she's not the kind of artist that will succeed. and ending narrative line kinda confirms that "you need imagination to survive".
she deserves more.

Always the best pop album I heard <3 Underrated but very special in my heart. 10/10
The video is so meaningful and deep. It's just so sad that the video depicts Carly imagining herself with people supporting her dancing to her pop bangers and when she woke up, no one paid attention to what she's singing. "You need imagination to survive" That really hit me. Sometimes in the midst of pain, you have to imagine happy thoughts so that you would be able to be stronger and learn and be mature.

I have this guy bestfriend. We’ve been bestfriends for 2 years. I started liking him since October and I didn’t mean to like him. I tried removing this feelings but it’s too hard cause the more I try the more it gets deeper. I don’t want to ruin our friendship but as time goes by it keeps hurting me. I knew I was being used. He usually talks to me when he has a favor. He will be very clingy to me, like hugging me so tight, kissing my forehead, holding my hands while we walk. A lot of people misinterpret us as a couple. How I wish it was true. He’s just talking to me when he gets bored. I want to stop this feeling. I don’t want this anymore. I don’t want to get things deeper.

I agree & Carly is soooo much better than Taylor, it's so sad Taylor gets all the attention when every song Carly has produced on E.MO.TION is a masterpiece, the music industry has only really let her shine in Call Me Maybe and I Really Like You which are great songs but imo she has songs on the new album that are 1000x better than them
