Caterina Valente Lyrics

I'll tell you no lie
How deep is the ocean?
How high is the sky?
How many times a day do I think of you?
How many roses are sprinkled with dew?
To be where you are?
How far is the journey
From here to a star?
And if I ever lost you, how much would I cry?
How deep is the ocean?
How high is the sky?
How far would I travel
To be where you are?
How far is the journey
From here to a star?
And if I ever lost you, how much would I cry?
How deep is the ocean?
How high is the sky?
How high is the sky?
The lyrics to Caterina Valente's song "How Deep is the Ocean" express the depth and intensity of love. The singer asks a series of rhetorical questions to emphasize just how much they love someone. The opening lines, "How much do I love you? I'll tell you no lie," establish the theme of the song and indicate that the singer's love is genuine and truthful.
The central question of the song is "How deep is the ocean? How high is the sky?" These questions are meant to convey the boundlessness of the singer's love. The ocean and the sky are vast and seemingly infinite, symbolizing the depth and height of the love they feel. By comparing their love to these natural elements, the singer emphasizes its magnitude and immensity.
The second verse continues the questioning, with the singer pondering how often they think of the person they love and how many roses in the world are adorned with morning dew. These questions serve to express the constant presence of the loved one in the singer's thoughts and the beauty they see in them.
The final verse adds a touch of longing and vulnerability. The singer wonders how far they would travel and how great the distance is between their current location and a distant star just to be with the person they love. This emphasizes the willingness to go to great lengths and overcome obstacles for the sake of love.
In the last lines, the singer poses a hypothetical scenario of losing the person they love and wonders how much they would cry. This shows the fear and sorrow that would accompany such a loss and underscores the immense depth of their emotions.
Overall, "How Deep is the Ocean" is a heartfelt and romantic song that portrays the all-encompassing nature of love through evocative imagery and thought-provoking questions.
