A Lover's Holiday
by Change

Not a cloud showed out in the sky that very night in Pitch Black City
I was so damned scared, it was dark, it was so dim, it was a shame
Just then a man walked up to me and said, ?Didn't I see you here before?
The lights were low and the party was so dull, just not good enough

Holiday (Ey, hey, hey, hey, hey)
Holiday (Holiday, what you say)
Holiday
Celebrate (Ah?yeah)

Holiday
Holiday (Alright, ow)
Holiday
Celebrate (Ooh)

Then we both held hands in each other's for a chance to start it moving
He reached deep inside of his vest and in his hand he held a ring
Let's have lunch, picnic or a brunch in the wintertime
Let's disco down in a roller skating ring in Alaska town (Oh?)

Holiday (Holiday)
Holiday (Come on, come on celebrate)
Holiday (Woo, woo, woo, woo)
Celebrate

Holiday (Got the feeling, come on, keep ahead, reelin')
Holiday (Holiday, yea, yea)
Holiday (Oh?)
Celebrate

Not a cloud showed out in the sky that very night in Pitch Black City
I was so damned scared, it was dark, it was so dim, it was a shame
Just then a man walked up to me and said, ?Didn't I see you here before?
The lights were low and the party was so dull, just not good enough

Holiday
Holiday
Holiday
Celebrate

Holiday
Holiday
Holiday
Celebrate

Driving around Liberty City to this in Tony's schafter, on the way to another mission was one of the most iconic experiences of my teen years

Huge dance song from Change. It hit number one on May 1980 on Billboard's Dance Chart, it stayed at #1 for 2 months ( a record, 9 weeks at #1)

@ISAAC WILLIAMS I remembered being a little kid in the 1980s and my mother and eldest sister would shop at Zayres and Ventures three times a month. I remember those stores very vividly, while growing up in Chicago. Man, I miss the 80s! ๐Ÿ˜ž๐Ÿ˜‰

Preparing to graduate from Murray-Wright High School in Detroit in a couple of months when I first heard this in circa April, 1980 while getting dressed for school. After getting out of school, I went to Wondelove Records on Grand River Avenue and purchased the 45, then some days later, purchased the album, even though I had not heard any of the other tracks on it. I was checkin' out & playing "Searching" and "The Glow Of Love" LONG before they were radio hits! I used to listen to "A Lover's Holiday" on F.M. 98 WJLB , F.M. 102.7 WLBS (sister station to New York's WBLS on 107.5 F.M.) and F.M. 107.5 WGPR! Change changed my life!! It was a different sound that fanned the flame of disco into the firestorm it became! Hey! If THEY say that "Elvis Lives" , then I can say DISCO LIVES! [Mic drop!! (thud; loud hummm and ear piercing feedback whistle) I'm Out!]
