Before You

Well, I was bad news
In letting me love you
I think I can get through
Oh baby, before you
Well, I was so scared
I was a train wreck waiting to happen
And now I think it's kind of funny that you say you love me
You tell me that I'm crazy then you smile
And now I think I'll get through the end of the world
Now I think I'll get through being a girl
Now I think I'll get through anything
Now I think I'll get through
Now honey, around you
Well, I'm feeling so good
'Cause you picked me up out of the rough
And you polished me up and made me brand new
And baby, before you, oh, oh
There was just a black hole
Yeah, I was beat down, blacked out
My darling, you couldn't even know
But ever since I met you on a cloudy Monday
I can't believe how much I love the rain
And now I think I'll get through the end of the world
And now I think I'll get through life as a girl
Now I think I'll get through anything
Now I think I'll get through
Ever since I met you on a cloudy Monday
I can't believe how much I love the rain
And now I think I'll get through the end of the world
And now I think I'll get through life as a girl
Now I think I'll get through anything
Now I think I'll get through
Oh, oh, oh
Now I think I'll get through
(Oh, oh) And now I think I'll get through
(Oh, oh) And now I think I'll get through
And now I think I'll get through
Oh, and now I think I'll get through
Oh, and now I think I'll get through
Oh, now I think I'll get through
The song "Before You" by Chantal Kreviazuk talks about how the singer's life was in a mess before she met her significant other. She talks about herself being bad news and scared, waiting to crash like a train wreck going nowhere. The singer feels that her life has now turned around because of her significant other. The lyrics suggest that her significant other has made all the difference in her life, picking her up from the rough, polishing her up to make her a brand new person.
The singer's new-found confidence is reflected in the lines "Now I think I'll get through the end of the world, life as a girl, anything." The mention of a "cloudy Monday" suggests that the singer's life prior to meeting her significant other was somewhat mundane and uneventful, and now that she has met them, she is experiencing the joy of the rain. The song is an expression of gratitude to the significant other for helping the singer to emerge stronger and more confident than before.
Overall, "Before You" is a powerful song that conveys a message about the transformative power of love and how it can help people to overcome their fears and doubts.
