Back to her palace, back to her island
Eve can smile again
And run round the hedges in the Garden of Eden
Run the way you did before the nightmares
Run just like before the overkill
Run the way you did it's over darling
Oh, could I be so gentle
Oh, so soft and tender
Oh and could I forgive
And could I die in my mother's arms like her
Eve's a child again
Sing her a lullaby
Read to her every night
Eve's in heaven
Plenty of friends are there
No one the enemy
Run the way you did
Before the nightmares
Run just like before the
Overkill
Run the way you did it's
Over darling
Oh, could I be so gentle
Oh, so soft and tender
Oh and could I forgive
And could I die in my mother's
Arms like her
Like her
Run the way you did
Before the nightmares
Like her
Run just like before the
Overkill
Like her
Run the way you did it's
Over darling
Like her
Run the way you did
Before the nightmares
Like her
Run just like before the
Overkill
Like her
Run the way you did it's
Over darling
Could I die in my mother's
Arms like her
The song "Eve" by Chantal Kreviazuk is a heart-wrenching song about remembering a loved one who has passed away. The lyrics evoke images of the singer's lost loved one, Eve, who has gone back to her palace or island, and is now smiling and running around the hedges in the Garden of Eden. The singer urges Eve to run the way she did before the nightmares and overkill, before everything changed. She wishes she could be as gentle, soft, and forgiving as Eve was, and she longs to die in her mother's arms just like Eve did.
The theme of loss is evident throughout the song, as the singer reminisces about Eve's past and longs for her presence. The Garden of Eden is a symbol of innocence and purity, which is fitting for Eve, who is portrayed as a child in heaven, surrounded by friends with no enemies. The use of the phrase "run just like before" emphasizes the idea of returning to a happier, simpler time, before tragedy struck. The singer's desire to die in her mother's arms like Eve creates a sense of envy and longing for an intimate and comforting experience.
Overall, the lyrics of "Eve" speak to the universal experience of loss and the yearning for simpler times. Through vivid imagery and emotional language, the singer captures the essence of grief and the desire for comfort and connection.
