FAR AWAY
Chantal Kreviazuk Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Honestly for real, one thing true
Take me in, in your arms
Wandering alone seems so far
Let me know that you've
made it as far as forever
Let me know that you
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
Come a little closer
Just a little
Let me know heaven sees
Shines on life our memories
Make me feel all that you are
Angel child or a radiant star
Cause I know that we'll meet up again in forever
Let me know you'll be waiting for me in the end
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
Come a little closer
Just a little
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
You're far away from me
Come a little closer
Just a little
Just a little
The lyrics of Chantal Kreviazuk's song "Far Away" express a longing for connection and reassurance from a loved one who is distant. The singer is asking the person to make her believe in their love, to prove that it is genuine and enduring. She wants to be held in their arms and not feel alone anymore. The lyrics also suggest a belief in an afterlife, as the singer talks about meeting up with the person "again in forever" and wanting to know that they will be waiting for her in the end.
The repetition of the phrase "you're far away from me" emphasizes the distance between the singer and her loved one, making it feel even more hopeless and desperate. But at the same time, the repeated plea to "come a little closer" suggests that the singer still has hope that the relationship can be saved, that the distance can be bridged.

I remember going star gazing with my friends, smoking doobies n whatnot.. this song came on the radio, it was on rotation back then. It made everything that night that more magical. I love that memory, and this song brings me right back to 14. Seems like it was another world ago, compared to today. Damn
