Zaa was a singer with two famous Colombian salsa orchestras: "Grupo Niche" and "Guayacán". When he launched his career as a solo artist, he decided to switch to the bolero rhythm. This career decision was made during the middle 1990s, and Zaa became an instant teen idol in Latin America. At that same time, he also became paparazzi fodder, with his photos coming out in a large number of magazines. Zaa was also featured on the covers of many of these magazines.
Since becoming a solo singer, Zaa has also received much television covering, being featured in a large number of important television shows.
On July 23, 2004, Zaa suffered a severe abdominal pain as he was about to begin a concert in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He could not perform that day, having to be taken to a local hospital. Zaa was then flown to Miami, Florida, where he remained hospitalized until he was diagnosed with having a kidney condition. Soon after, his personal doctor corrected the problem in a surgery performed in his native Colombia.
Charlie Zaa has recorded over 10 CDs since launching his career as a solo artist. His CD "Sentimientos", in which he sings some past hit songs, sold 500,000 copies in Colombia, and 50,000 copies in Ecuador. Those numbers made the CD be considered a hit in both countries, considering the size of their population.

Por qué no me has escrito,
Que es lo que te ha pasado,
Dímelo mi amorcito.
Si no puedes llamarme,
Porque no escribes una cartita,
Con cuatro letras y por favor,
Que es un recuerdo de aquel amor.
Porque no escribes una cartita,
Con cuatro letras y por favor,
Que es un recuerdo de aquel amor.
No me llaman, no me escriben,
Por qué no me has llamado,
Por qué no me has escrito,
Que es lo que te ha pasado,
Dímelo mi amorcito.
Si no puedes llamarme,
Porque no escribes una cartita,
Con cuatro letras y por favor,
Que es un recuerdo de aquel amor.
Si no puedes llamarme,
Porque no escribes una cartita,
Con cuatro letras y por favor,
Que es un recuerdo de aquel amor.
No me llaman, no me escriben,
The lyrics to Charlie Zaa's song "Ni Me Llaman Ni Me Escriben" are about unrequited love, longing, and the pain of being forgotten or ignored by the person you love. The song is essentially a plea from the singer to their loved one to reach out to them and let them know what has happened between them. The lyrics are full of emotion and demonstrate the singer's deep affection for their loved one.
The first verse poses a series of questions to the loved one, asking why they haven't called or written, and what has happened between them. The verse ends with a plea for a letter with just four letters, which would serve as a reminder of their previous love. The chorus is a lament about being forgotten, and the pain that this causes. The singer contrasts their own feelings of love and remembrance with the perceived indifference of the loved one.
The second verse is a repetition of the first, with the central theme of trying to understand why the loved one has disappeared from their life. The choruses are again repeated, with the singer reiterating their own feelings of intense love and devotion, and expressing their desire for the loved one to reciprocate those feelings.
The song echoes the emotions that many people feel after a relationship ends, particularly when one person is left alone and searching for answers. The lyrics are simple yet poignant and convey a sense of longing and pain that is universal.
