He started his career with the seminal NZ band Supergroove. Shortly after he broke from the band in 1996, he released his first single ‘Chains’ a duet with DLT that went straight to #1 on the NZ Singles charts, and stayed there for 5 consecutive weeks. It went on to reach Platinum and was the landmark single that brought NZ Hip Hop to mass attention.
Che Fu has released three solo albums and one greatest hits compilation: 2b S.PACiFiC, Navigator, and Beneath The Radar and Hi-Score: The Best of Che-Fu.
Navigator is a combination of 13 tracks developed musically and lyrically by Che Fu. His love of reggae, funk, soul, rap and hip hop were his inspiration. "Fade Away" and "Random" were the first two singles released off the album, and both did well in the New Zealand charts. His album also sees him collaborate with D.J P-Money and The Villajah M.Cs.

Local boy, neighbourhood
Easy as the breeze in springtime
He don't talk too much
When he does the whole room gets luminous
Lights everywhere
He said earlier this year
He tuned down real low
And then something moved him
He's never been the same since
Chorus
Listening
On the
Misty Frequencies
He's listening
On the
Misty Frequencies
Verse 2
She walks real slow pace
She's knows where she be going international
Lifestyle
Control
Amplified by what she knows
Knap-snacks, Headphones
She be steppin' with that rugged flow
She powerful her minds on the audio
Chorus x5
Bridge
More than sounds
More than words
Must be keppin' them healthy
What you hear
What you see
Ain't always what's it's sposed, to be
We tune down
Real low searching on the hi-fi radio
For something with that feeling
We alive again
Chorus till fade
The song "Misty Frequencies" by Che Fu is an ode to the power of music and its ability to transport us beyond what we think is possible. The song's protagonist is a local boy who is compared to a refreshing breeze in springtime. He doesn't speak much, but when he does, his presence radiates throughout the room, and he lights up everything around him. He discovered something on the hi-fi radio that moved him, and he hasn't been the same since. He's continuously listening on the "Misty Frequencies," which implies that he's always searching for something beyond the norm, something that will transport him to a different place.
In the second verse, the singer changes, but the theme remains the same. This time we meet a girl who walks at a slow pace but knows precisely where she's going, and her lifestyle is international. She's in control, and what she knows is amplified, and everything she carries, including her knapsack and headphones, is a part of her rugged flow. She's focused on her audio experience, and her mind is powerful. The chorus repeats several times, reminding us of the power of music and how it can transport us to a new place. The bridge is a reminder to stay open-minded and to not take what we hear and see for granted. We should always tune down low and search for something with that feeling so that we can feel alive again.
