By 2017, several of Cutler's songs (including "Your Shirt") garnered numerous streams and led to collaborations that year with acts like Louis The Child ("Slow Down Love"), ayokay ("The Shine"), Kidswaste ("Tonight"), and Kasbo ("Found You"). She signed a record deal with Ultra Records in late 2017 and released her first EP, "Snow In October". After touring with Quinn XCII in early 2018, Cutler released two independent mixtapes, "Sleeping With Roses" and "Sleeping With Roses II." She also went on her first two nationwide headlining tours in support of each mixtape, both of which sold out in advance.
In March 2019, she signed to Republic Records and released a joint EP, "brent", with friend and label-mate Jeremy Zucker shortly after. The EP features the single "you were good to me", which they performed live on The Today Show. It was also pressed on a limited edition white vinyl through the retailer Urban Outfitters. It was limited to a run of 1000 copies pressed. In May 2019, Cutler collaborated with Kygo on the single, "Not OK". It became her third collaboration (after "Slow Down Love" and "The Shine") to appear on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs chart, peaking at number 9.
In late 2019, Cutler began releasing new singles, including "How To Be Human" and "Lucky" (featuring Alexander 23). Along with "Sad Tonight", the songs served as the primary singles for her debut studio album, How To Be Human, released on January 17, 2020 by Republic Records. On January 23, 2020 she performed the lead single, "Sad Tonight", on Late Night With Seth Meyers. That song became Cutler's first entry on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 airplay chart, peaking at number 32 in March 2020. In April 2020, she was featured alongside Quinn XCII on the Louis The Child track, "Little Things".
Cutler was also slated to perform at Coachella 2020, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In June 2020, she released a version of her song "Crazier Things" which features Noah Kahan.

You Don't Think About Me At All
Chelsea Cutler Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Ooh-ooh, ooh
On the water, Santa Barbara
Had your lips between my teeth and your hands under my sleeves
Now I don't even know how you're paying your rent each month
Early flight out, you were lights out
We would drink away the nerves, hoped the other leaned in first
Do you kiss her with your eyes closed?
Do you whisper when you get upset?
Do you still get a little nervous
When she watches you get undressed?
Do you ever stop to wonder
Would I answer if you dared to call?
I hate that I'm still thinking about you
When you don't even think about me at all
Isn't it something, how life moves?
Such a constant in my days, hoping maybe you would stay
You were all that I had, now I wonder if I'm anything
Still anything, still anything
Do you kiss her with your eyes closed?
Do you whisper when you get upset?
Do you still get a little nervous
When she watches you get undressed?
Do you ever stop to wonder
Would I answer if you dared to call?
I hate that I'm still thinking about you
When you don't even think about me at all
If I'm still anything
If I'm still anything
If I'm still anything to you
I wonder
If I'm still anything
If I'm still anything
If I'm still anything to you
I wonder
Do you kiss her with your eyes closed?
Do you whisper when you get upset?
Do you still get a little nervous (nervous, yeah)
When she watches you get undressed?
Do you ever stop to wonder (stop to wonder)
Would I answer if you dared to call?
I hate that I'm still thinking about you
When you don't even think about me at all (oh)
If I'm still anything (ooh)
If I'm still anything (anything)
If I'm still anything (anything, anything)
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
The lyrics of Chelsea Cutler's song "You Don't Think About Me At All" delve into the complex emotions of longing, heartache, and questioning in the aftermath of a past romantic relationship. The opening lines set the scene in Santa Barbara, where intimate moments were shared between the singer and their former partner. The imagery of having "your lips between my teeth and your hands under my sleeves" conveys a sense of closeness and physical intimacy that is now a distant memory. The abrupt shift in dynamics is highlighted as the singer reflects on not knowing how their ex is managing their life, including the mundane task of paying rent.
The chorus of the song poses a series of poignant questions directed at the ex-partner, focusing on the intimate moments shared and the uncertainties that linger. There is a sense of betrayal and hurt as the singer wonders if their ex-lover engages in the same gestures of affection with someone new, leading to self-doubt and pangs of jealousy. The vulnerability in lines like "Would I answer if you dared to call?" reveals a lingering hope for reconnection despite the evident emotional distance.
The theme of grappling with loss and change continues as the lyrics ponder the passing of time and the realization that life goes on, even when a significant relationship has come to an end. The sentiment of being left to wonder if their presence in the ex's life still holds any significance underscores feelings of inadequacy and abandonment. The singer questions their own worth and impact, highlighting a struggle with self-esteem and acceptance in the face of rejection.
In the final verse, the repetition of "If I'm still anything to you, I wonder" echoes the unresolved nature of the singer's feelings and the yearning for closure or clarity. The emotional turmoil is further emphasized as the singer grapples with the conflicting emotions of love and pain. The song concludes with the melancholic realization that, despite still holding onto memories and emotions, the ex-lover has seemingly moved on without a second thought, leaving the singer to grapple with their lingering feelings of longing and unrequited love. Overall, "You Don't Think About Me At All" captures the raw and universal experience of heartbreak and the bittersweet process of letting go.
