Cozart attended Dulles Elementary School and later Banner High School on Chicago's South Side, which is where he got his career start. In December 2011, he was arrested on a weapons charge (aggravated unlawful use of a weapon) and put under house arrest at his grandmother's home. While under house arrest, Cozart posted several videos to his YouTube account. The attention he received grew in the short time between the release of several mixtapes and several music videos, including "Bang," "3Hunna," and "I Don't Like." After two locally successful mixtapes, "I Don't Like" became a local hit in Chicago. It also caught fellow Chicago rapper Kanye West's attention, and West organized a remix of the song along with rappers Pusha T, Jadakiss, and Big Sean. On July 7, 2012, it was announced that Chief Keef would be performing at the 2012 Lollapalooza music festival.
In the following years, Keef has served up a continuous stream of releases, such as Back From the Dead 2 (2014), Bang 3 (2015), and Thot Breaker (2017). Critics have cited Chief Keef as a major influence on contemporary hip hop through his impact on artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Tupac and various collaborations.

Bad boy, rude boy
Heavy money in my pants, boy your money too light
One plus one equals two, yeah you're right
Bitches come through and fuck me like its It's two on high
Keep it cool boy, you boy, one boy, two boy
100 thousand dollar car, I can get two for it
Pull up inside of your level, I'm a jerk, new boy
I'm smoking dope, you smoking on the fool boy
I'm riding foreign, rims look like 4 lil boys
I'm smoking olds, I smoke out the peace too boy

You should know, we don't fuck with new boys
I treat these niggas like the bottom of my shoes boy
I want a boat but I bought a coupe boy
And bought a four, so when I get tired of two boy
I switch it over, hop up in my four door
I'm going dumb, more money i get bored more
Since I'm the captain of the ship, I tell your ho to board

In the first verse, he dismisses a woman who is not meeting his expectations and emphasizes his own superiority by comparing his wealth to hers. He also mentions his ability to attract multiple women effortlessly. The repeated references to money and status suggest a brash and unapologetic demeanor.
He continues to assert his dominance in the second verse by contrasting his lifestyle with that of others, highlighting his preference for luxury items and expensive cars. Chief Keef also showcases his disdain for those he deems inferior, labeling them as "new boys" and emphasizing his own experience and influence within the rap industry. The lyrics imply a sense of exclusivity and elitism, as he surrounds himself only with those he deems worthy.
The third verse delves into Chief Keef's extravagant lifestyle, describing his penchant for excess in all aspects, from his expensive jewelry to his lavish spending habits. He boasts about his success and the luxuries he indulges in, further solidifying his image as a braggadocious figure who revels in flaunting his wealth and power.
