Cozart attended Dulles Elementary School and later Banner High School on Chicago's South Side, which is where he got his career start. In December 2011, he was arrested on a weapons charge (aggravated unlawful use of a weapon) and put under house arrest at his grandmother's home. While under house arrest, Cozart posted several videos to his YouTube account. The attention he received grew in the short time between the release of several mixtapes and several music videos, including "Bang," "3Hunna," and "I Don't Like." After two locally successful mixtapes, "I Don't Like" became a local hit in Chicago. It also caught fellow Chicago rapper Kanye West's attention, and West organized a remix of the song along with rappers Pusha T, Jadakiss, and Big Sean. On July 7, 2012, it was announced that Chief Keef would be performing at the 2012 Lollapalooza music festival.
In the following years, Keef has served up a continuous stream of releases, such as Back From the Dead 2 (2014), Bang 3 (2015), and Thot Breaker (2017). Critics have cited Chief Keef as a major influence on contemporary hip hop through his impact on artists such as Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Tupac and various collaborations.

I pull up hopped out and I'm smoking on chronic
Explain this to me boy how you allergic to money?
You can't be allergic to them 50s and 100s
I pull up hopped out and I'm reeking of weed
I pull the racks out and I'm reeking them G's
I pull the guap out and I'm singing them G's

In "Singing to the Cheese," Chief Keef expresses his focus on making money and his affinity for the lavish lifestyle associated with it. The lyrics depict him as someone who is determined to chase after financial success and indulge in the pleasures that come with it.
The first paragraph sets the scene for Chief Keef's pursuit of money, as he hops on the road and declares his intention to obtain wealth. He mentions smoking marijuana as he goes about his journey, implying that he may be enjoying the benefits of his success already. When he questions how someone could be "allergic to money," he is essentially questioning how anyone could not want or strive for financial abundance. The mention of fifty and hundred-dollar bills indicates the amount of money he desires and expects to have. As he pulls out stacks of cash (racks), he proudly sings to the "G's," referring to both the money and the gangsters he associates with.
The second paragraph highlights Chief Keef's extravagant lifestyle and his disregard for others' opinions. He raps about his material possessions and desires, expressing his desire for sexual gratification, contact with large sums of money, and fame. He mentions wanting some "weed" and "killers," which can be seen as his way of asserting dominance and power. Chief Keef wants to accumulate not just money, but entire neighborhoods ("streets"), houses, and buildings. He asserts his confidence by implying that no one can challenge him and that he is prepared to defend himself with weapons. He also mentions having the police come for him, possibly suggesting that his actions and lifestyle could lead to confrontation with the authorities.
The third paragraph showcases Chief Keef's unique artistic identity and references to pop culture. He likens himself to various famous figures such as Sosa Wonder, Sosa Ray Charles, and Sosa Subzero, adding an element of creativity to his lyrics. These references evoke a sense of power and greatness, as these characters are known for their exceptional abilities. As he calls himself different names, he reiterates his personal brand and reinforces his identity as a successful and influential artist.
Overall, the lyrics depict Chief Keef's unwavering pursuit of money, his extravagant lifestyle, and his assertion of power and individuality. He is unapologetic about his desires and demonstrates a sense of pride in his accomplishments. Chief Keef references various aspects of his life, incorporating both his personal experiences and his various artistic identities to create a unique and vivid picture of his world.
