Born February 18th 1950
New York City
Leader of one of the most exciting Nu Music ensembles of the decade... bridging the gap between live instrumentation and modern electronica, comprised of exciting improvised jazz solos and rich, sophisticated textures with urban and world influences.
SUN FLOWER JAZZ continues this search into new realms of Ethnotrance and Ambient grooves. According to these modern primitives, "We use the Spiritual as our guide and traditional ethnic music as our base."
Maurice implements a well-crafted assortment of styles on SUN FLOWER JAZZ... deep, stimulating, and relaxing is what you'll take away from this brilliant audio excursion. Chill Factor-5 is on the precipice of the Nu Music movement and is in fact leading the way in organic, spiritual renderings of what we like to call "A Mystic Journey,” offering a similar experience to the popular releases from the Buddha-Bar and Cafe Del Mar.
Maurice founded the band, Rhythm Method, with his brother Steve. The band featured live percussion, keyboards and guitar and performed in such renowned venues as the Melkweg/Milky Way in Amsterdam and Exit and Tressor in Berlin. Rhythm Method was one of the first American bands to perform live at the Love Parade in Berlin. In New York City the band performed regularly at The Limelight, The Shelter, The Ritz and The Roxy.
Under Maurice's leadership, Rhythm Method released "The Future EP" on Adrenalin Records in 1993. In 1996, the album "Dream Wanderers" was released with C&S Records.
He wrote the song, "But You Must" for the Killing Zoë soundtrack, Milan Records/BMG.
Their most acclaimed song, "Goa Season of the Monsoon" was included on the compilations, "United State of Ambience" on Moonshine Records and Trance Masters 2 on Vision Sound Carrier Records.
He learned to play West African drums, such as talking drum, djembe and baliphone with master drummer Babatundi Olatunji, and studied Afro-Brazilian rhythms with Airto, Ciro Baptista and Nana Vasconcelos on traditional instruments such as the quica, ago go, caxixi and berimbau. Jo Papo Dadiego brought expertise in Afro-Cuban music as well.
The advent of low-cost home computers and music software has given Maurice his own path to creative freedom and he can now realize an entire musical composition on his own. And it is from all the varied cultural traditions he has studied that Maurice Oliver composes his unique style of world rhythms, electronica and jazz.
He is President of Electronfarm Records, a multi-media company creating, music CD’s, and digital downloads. Video for artists, as well as television, and film scoring, and sound design. Presently living in the Chicago area He has assembled a “Live” band to expand upon the concepts explored in the studio. Electronfarm Records releases: Chill Factor-5 “A Heartbeat Away”, “Journey to Music Island”, and the latest album Sun Flower Jazz have achieved critical acclaim, and Sun Flower Jazz has been nominated for a Grammy for best album electronica/dance .

I'm never this vulnerable
Don't you wanna see me baby
How can you wait so long
I've got abandonment issues I had to face the truth
Cause I don't feel like you, miss me at all
At all
Oh, How do you not loose your breath
Oh baby I don't feel like you
Need me
Need me
Need me
Need me
Oh took a while to confess
I struggle when I can't reach you
Oh baby I don't feel like you
Need me
lNeedike I
You to be
I wanna be yours
But I want that crazy stupid love
I wanna be yours
But I want that don't go please stay over
It's your turn to and hang up now
I'm counting down the days till I can see your smile
Oh, I wanna be yours, but I want that crazy stupid love
So many messages I type and never send
Can I show up at your door just let me in
Gave you the key to mine with no hesitation
We're in my dreams together
But we've never seen forever
And every time we're not together I don't know why
I loose sleep at night
Oh, How do you not loose your breath
Whenever I'm not there beside you
Oh baby I don't feel like you
Need me
Need me
Need me
Need me
Oh took a while to confess
I struggle when I can't reach you
Oh baby I don't feel like you
Need me
Like I
Need you to be
I wanna be yours
But I want that crazy stupid love
I wanna be yours
But I want that don't go please stay over
It's your turn to and hang up now
I'm counting down the days till I can see your smile
Oh, I wanna be yours, but I want that crazy stupid love
In the song "Crazy Love" by Chill Factor-5, the singer expresses their feelings of insecurity and neediness in a romantic relationship. The lyrics suggest that the singer feels clingy and vulnerable, which suggests a lack of confidence and fear of being abandoned. They question why their partner doesn't seem to miss them when they're apart and struggle with their own feelings of abandonment. The line "I've got abandonment issues I had to face the truth" implies that the singer has had past experiences that have contributed to their insecurities.
The singer wonders how their partner can remain calm and unaffected when they are not around, while the singer is filled with anxiety and longing for their presence. They question why their partner doesn't seem to need them as much as the singer needs them, which further intensifies their feelings of inadequacy and fear of being left behind. The repetition of "Need me" emphasizes the singer's desperation to be wanted and desired by their partner.
The lyrics also touch on the singer's desire for an intense, passionate love. They express a longing to be in a committed relationship but also yearn for the excitement and unpredictability that comes with a crazy, stupid love. The singer wants their partner to be fully invested and not easily willing to leave. They want a love that is so strong that their partner would choose to stay even when it might seem easier to go.
The song ends with the singer admitting that being away from their partner causes them sleepless nights and longing for their presence. They count down the days until they can see their partner's smile, indicating that their happiness is heavily dependent on the relationship. The repeated desire to be theirs and have that "crazy stupid love" suggests a craving for a deep emotional connection and a fear of losing it.
Overall, "Crazy Love" explores themes of insecurity, fear of abandonment, and the longing for a passionate and committed relationship. The lyrics convey the singer's deep emotional dependence on their partner and their desire for a love that is all-consuming and enduring.
