I'm tryna be like, no, I know that I
Didn't need it
Said, I didn't need it
I tried to do right but I lost my cool
And I don't understand why it had to be you
It got to me
I let it get to me, yeah
Maybe bringing shit up
I can't find, and they always need
A bad guy
I just laugh when I think about it
It feels like I ran out of time
And you came along, changed my life
Changed my life
And yeah, you showed me that I'm, showed me that I'm royalty
When you look at my past, I need you to understand it
Wasn't part of my plan
Wasn't part of my plan
Why you gotta go treat me like that?
Gotta be better, but you didn't like that
Wasn't part of my plan
Wasn't part of my plan
Give it up, but it wasn't enough to please you
So I'm living it up, ooh, yeah, yeah
I just don't give a fuck, ooh, yeah, yeah
Keep myself out of love, ohh
But you wanted a show, ohh
So I'm living it up, ooh, yeah, yeah
Baby, I don't give a fuck, ooh, yeah, yeah
Maybe bringing shit up
I can't find, and they always need
A bad guy
I just laugh when I think about it
It feels like I ran out of time
And you came along, changed my life
Changed my life
And yeah, you showed me that I'm, showed me that I'm royalty
When you look at my past, I need you to understand it
Wasn't part of my plan
Wasn't part of my plan
Why you gotta go treat me like that?
Gotta be better, but you didn't like that
Wasn't part of my plan
Wasn't part of my plan
Give it up, but it wasn't enough to please you
So I'm living it up, ooh, yeah, yeah
I just don't give a fuck, ooh, yeah, yeah
Keep myself out of love, ohh
But you wanted a show, ohh
So I'm living it up, ooh, yeah, yeah
Baby, I don't give a fuck, ooh, yeah, yeah (yeah)
In the song "Part of the Plan" by Chris Brown, the lyrics reflect the artist's self-acceptance and rebellion against societal expectations. Chris Brown establishes his unapologetic persona, stating that he won't conform to anyone's standards, that he is embracing his true self. He acknowledges that he may have made mistakes in the past and tried to do the right thing, but ultimately lost control. The line "I let it get to me" suggests that external pressures or influences overwhelmed him, causing him to react in ways he didn't intend.
The chorus reveals the impact of a significant person coming into his life who helped him realize his worth and showed him his importance and value. This person became a catalyst for change, transforming his perspective and showing him that he is deserving of respect and admiration. By accepting himself and recognizing his worth, he feels empowered and finds solace in his newfound self-perception.
The second verse continues to explore the concept of not fitting into societal expectations. Chris Brown alludes to being seen as a "bad guy" by others, but he disregards their judgments and laughs at the notion. He implies that he feels as though he has run out of time, suggesting a sense of urgency or pressure to live life on his own terms. Overall, the lyrics convey a theme of personal growth, self-acceptance, and liberation from societal constraints.

I think this song is about Chris speaking to his daughter, telling her that she changed his life, and put him in the right path, he was explaining to her all the things that happened in his past wasn’t part of his plan and not a depiction of his character. Beautiful song one of the best on the album❤️
