Chris.. story is, by essence, one of mixed races. Born in French Guyana, of Martiniquan parents, he has invented an identity across three continents : South America, Europe and the Caribbean.
As the artist is in constant movement, so his music comes to life and feeds off his travels. This music, Chris Combette has described for a long time as « Caribbean », as he felt molded by the sounds that make up the creole repertoire : biguine, mazurka, bossa nova, salsa, zouk or reggae. But as his work grows, his discovery of the world is more global : from Paris to Montreal, Angouleme to Kingston, New York to San Francisco, Budapest to Port of Spain Chris carries a trunk full of these unique characters that he describes as a tireless story teller : Salambô, Kibilibi, Bakoulele, Soledad are born out of encounters and out of the love for perfect tone, those that only can be produced when an elegant phrasing meets good lyrics.
In Creole, in French, Spanish or English, lyrics and melodies flow freely and you can feel in Chris..s compositions his scientific background : before becoming a musician, Mr. Combette taught Math and Physics. As the researcher, the artist looks towards the alchemy of world music.
Chris Combette is one of the considered musicians of world music :
- Best composer of SACEM prize, Martinique 1996
- Finalist in Découvertes RFI, 1997
- Groove Prize for « Salambô » at the International Music Video Festival in 1999
- Complimented by SACEM for his whole works in 2004.
- Winner of the competitive music show organized by RFO-TV throughout french overseas countries in 2005.
- Qualified for the french final for Eurovision TV music show in 2006
- Preparing his new album for 2007.

Ou léssé an bel vibrassyon andan univers musikal la - an lot soley !
