Raise Up The Crown
Chris Tomlin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Let angels prostrate fall
Bring forth the royal diadem
And crown Him Lord of all
Bring forth the royal diadem
And crown Him Lord of all
Ye chosen seed of Israel's race
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace
And crown Him Lord of all
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace
And crown Him Lord of all
O that with yonder sacred throng
We at His feet may fall
We'll join the everlasting song
And crown Him Lord of all
We'll join the everlasting song
And crown Him Lord of all
Raise up the crown, rise on the praises
Rest on the brow of the King of the Ages
Raise up the crown, rise on the praises
Rest on the brow of the King of the Ages
The lyrics to the worship song "Raise Up The Crown" by Chris Tomlin is a beautiful and powerful declaration of Christ's sovereignty, majesty, and saving grace. The song is inspired by the Bible verse found in Philippians 2:9-11 that says, "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
The first stanza pays homage to the power of Jesus Christ's name, calling on angels to bow in reverence before Him, as the royal diadem is brought forth to crown Him as the Lord of all. The second stanza speaks to the chosen people of Israel who were saved by His grace, and the third stanza speaks to the hope of one day joining the everlasting song in heaven, where we can fall at His feet in worship.
The chorus of the song is a triumphant reminder that Christ's crown belongs to Him alone, and that we should raise up His name in praise and adoration. The King of the Ages is crowned by our praises and is worthy of all honor, glory, and praise.
Overall, the message of the song is a reminder of Christ's sovereignty, the power of His name, and the fact that one day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord.
