In 2008, after five solo album releases, and nine with Passion, Tomlin made the move from Texas to Atlanta to be a worship leader for Giglio’s new church, Passion City Church, with its first service being held in February of 2009. Tomlin has since released four solo worship albums, two Christmas albums, and one live album.
In 2013, Tomlin’s seventh album Burning Light debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart, becoming only the fourth album by a Christian artist to top that chart, along with Butterfly Kisses (Shades of Grace) by Bob Carlisle, You Light Up My Life by LeeAnn Rimes, both in 1997, and TobyMac's Eye On It in 2012.
Tomlin has recorded some of the most famous songs ever in Christian music, such as How Great Is Our God, Holy Is The Lord, Our God, and Whom Shall I Fear (God of Angel Armies)
Throughout his successful career, Tomlin has won 22 GMA Dove Awards, two Billboard Music Awards, and a Grammy.

The lyrics of "What Child Is This?" by Chris Tomlin is a retelling of perhaps the most well-known story of all time, the birth of Jesus Christ. The first verse paints a peaceful image of Mary cradling her baby, whom the angels heralded with sweet songs, while the shepherds watch over them. The second verse, however, talks about the identity of the baby that Mary is holding, he is no ordinary child but the King of the universe, the one whom the angels worship and the shepherds hasten to laud. The third verse, on the other hand, calls on people to offer gifts of incense, gold, and myrrh to the baby just like the peasants and kings of old did when they realized that the child in the manger is no ordinary child. The fourth verse brings with it a powerful message of the reason why Jesus was born- to save humanity from their sins. Despite his birth, He was destined to be pierced by nails and spears on the cross- a sacrifice promised from the beginning of time to bring salvation to all who would follow Him.

I cried while listening to this 😭😭 it's just beautiful... this was my favourite christmas carol as a child after more than 20 years I remembered it and I found it .. it made electricity run through my body it moved me to tears I guess I dint understand it back then the way I do now 😭❤ ..This is the Season the CROSS was the reason!!!
