The owl in the trees promotes a sense of wonder that draws the viewer in, and you can't help but think he gave something valuable to the girl. The tallness of the trees helps add to the feeling of wonder in the beautiful place. I will bring this up again.

The was the fox and the owl's eyes look are very similar to the girl's in terms of color. Even more interesting... the fox seemed to frighten the girl. The short clip of the creature that scared them was the fox himself. It was as if it was warning the girl to run, despite not knowing what the real danger was. "Take your chances, run and hide." Basically teaching her the lesson that when in doubt run from her problems.

Then later, the deer says "Stay a while, don't be afraid." And I think the deer itself represents maturity because as soon as the girl touches it, everything begins growing. It symbolizes her growing up and accepting that you don't always run when there's conflict. And after that scene with growth, you see her in her adult age walking out of the forest.

In the end, I believe the girl's journey through the forest is symbolism of her going through childhood, discovering pieces of herself along the way, such as the scarf, the bracelet, and even the scar. Perhaps those three things symbolize something in their own rights. The bracelet being a symbol wonder of the unknown and development of the mind. The scar being a reminder of fear of the unknown and development of caution. The scarf being an item of acceptance of the unknown and development of reason.

As for the animals themselves, I simply believe they represent things that taught these lessons and caused her to feel certain ways. The owl made her feel curiousity and wonder. The fox made her feel fear and caution. And the deer made her feel safe.

This is all a theory, a VIDEO THEORY aaaannnnnd cut.

I have a theory...I've been watching this over and over again and listening to every single word she said.My theory is called the three gifts from the woods.The first gift is from the wise owl is his necklace right? She was given the owls wisdom.Even though you don't see the Fox give any thing to her he did say run and hide and while they were running she cut herself. The Fox gave her fear.When she met the dear the dear said she was free and gave her the scarf she was wearing. She gave her freedom. She was given wisdom,fear,and freedom. That's my theory!

Thanks everyone for the comments. As some have said, it's not as "fully" animated as some of my other stuff. The schedule and budget were tight, so the process was a balancing act of atmosphere and quality vs. the clock. And for the record, thanks @OneyNG for sending ppl here :D

I don't know if you noticed, but the whole song is about growing up, and the things we go through as we do so. To the child, the old wise owl guides us. To the teens, the fox tries to keep us safe In our adulthood, we find ourselves, we're free from the confusion of youth.

Honestly all the popular animators will probably favorite this even if they don't "physically" favorite it. That's because they know this Animator, Chulaid, has produced some of the most visually stunning animations you can find by an individual on the internet and even if your not a fan of the story you cant help but respect the time and raw talent. I love this animation and this song. Very meaningful and deep. As i see it, The owl was wisdom, making her wiser. The fox was cunning telling her to run from the dangers of the darkness. While the deer was tenderness, and the girl needed it so bad she got lost in it and lost track of everything. Until she leaves the woods a woman who is, wise,cunning, and tender. :)

really loved that she was wearing the deer's scarf at the end. The character walked with older confidence out of the forest, and then panning up to her hair tied back - as if facing with courage whatever comes. Fantastic emotional payoff for the my (the audience) emotional investment in the story - 5 stars!!

This song is so beautiful. To me it tells us about the lessons that we learn as we grow-up. The knowledge to know what is right or wrong and to grow from that wisdom. To run away when we fell threatened and try to survive. And the love and support of others who will set you free from the shackles of the unknown. This is just my thoughts on this song, and everyone has their own equal opinions. I love reading how people interpret song lyrics.

Love the details, like how her hair tie at the end is what was around the deer's neck. Beautiful job! I found the fox's first run cycle was a little strange looking, but besides that I was awed by this. Haunting music with a beautifully haunting animation.

The animation is gorgeous, the "editing choices" perfectly fits the song. I wish music videos were more like this, that is to say based on simple things such as emotion and art. Instead, it is almost always about exposing the singer like if he was some mere product showing other products (iphone, cars, clothes...). And after such a cynical use of "art", they wonder why people steal their work :/ Anyway, I add this video to my playlist of the best fanmade videos ever made ! (great song too)

I believe it's the story of how someone grew up. The woods is a metaphor of the real world. She met a wise person who gave her some advice, a wild person who she followed into hardships, and a motherly figure who healed her wounds and completed her. She awoke to find that time passes quickly to those who are truly grown up.
