1. Mayumi Ya… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least four artists under the name "Cindy":
1. Mayumi Yamamoto (山本真裕美, born May 5, 1958), known solely by her stage name Cindy, was a Japanese singer-songwriter, active as a singer from 1984 to 1997 and as a songwriter from 1984 to 1998.
She is probably best known for her song "私達を信じていて", and composing multiple Number One hits for Miho Nakayama, namely "人魚姫", "Witches" and "ROSÉCOLOR".
She passed away due to cancer at the age of 42 in Los Angeles, on January 12th, 2001.
2. A pop punk group from Auckland New Zealand
3. Kai Hugo, the dutch house producer rebranded himself as Palmbomen II in 2015 and released an ace album of psychedelic acid jams on Beats In Space. He named all the tracks on that record after various minor characters from episodes of The X-Files, but one of them – ‘Cindy Savalas’ – stuck somehow.
His next album, Memories of Cindy, filled in a fictional biography. Cindy lived in the small Californian town of Carmel Vista and died in mysterious circumstances. Hugo hired actor and model Blue LoLãn to give a face and voice to the character, and she sang on a few of the tracks – notably its blistering highlight, ‘Are You Friends with Amber?’.
Now Cindy has her own album – a pretty good, shoegaze-tinged dream pop record, recorded before the character’s ‘death’, with a loose narrative about her life, loves, and heartbreaks. LoLãn is front and centre, singing and talking on every track, breathing life into a character that has become an uncanny avatar for both LoLãn and Hugo.
4. San Franciso based group fronted by Karina Gill, together with Aaron Diko, Jesse Jackson and Simon Phillips. They released their first self-titled album in 2018, followed by Free Advice in 2020 and 1:2 in 2021. They are due to release a new album, Why Not Now?, on 14th April 2023.

The lyrics of "CSI: Creeptown" describe a complex and somewhat tumultuous relationship between two individuals. The opening line, "As close as I want to be, that's as far as I stay from you," suggests a cautious distance maintained by the singer. They are hesitant to fully engage with the other person, hinting at a sense of self-preservation or perhaps a lack of trust.
The next line, "When you tell me false, I find a way to make it true," indicates a tendency for the singer to try and validate or justify the lies or falsehoods they receive from the other person. This could imply a certain level of emotional manipulation within the relationship, with both parties contributing to a pattern of deceit.
The lyrics then shift to acknowledge the flaws within both individuals, stating, "There's plenty wrong with me, but I could say the same for you." This line highlights the self-awareness of the singer, recognizing that they are imperfect as well. It suggests a shared responsibility for the issues present in the relationship, emphasizing the complexities and nuances of human interactions.
The subsequent lines delve into metaphorical comparisons, drawing parallels between different characters and situations. The mention of "the kid on the talent show, he sings some old R&B" and "the cops on the TV show, they have their job to do" likely serve as symbolic representations of various roles played within the relationship. The singer imagines themselves as a sleepless detective, relentlessly searching for answers and understanding, with the other person being their enigmatic and ever-changing clue.
The latter part of the lyrics alludes to the dreamlike nature of the relationship, as the other person often appears in disguise and changes shape and size. This can be seen as a metaphor for the challenges and uncertainties faced in trying to understand and navigate this complex connection.
The closing lines, "There's nothing worse in life than to always be right, so you play master now and I'll sit still for you, but when you tell me it's one, I will make it two," suggests a shift in power dynamics. The singer seems willing to surrender control and let the other person take the lead, but they assert their independence and determination to challenge the narratives presented. It implies an underlying defiance and refusal to conform completely.
Overall, "CSI: Creeptown" explores themes of distance, deception, self-awareness, and power dynamics within a complicated relationship. The lyrics reflect the range of emotions and complexities present in navigating the intricacies of human connection.
