Crash on the levee, mama,
Water′s gonna overflow,
Swamp's gonna rise,
No boat′s gonna row.
Now, you can train on down
To Williams Point,
You can bust your feet,
You can rock this joint.
But oh mama, ain't you gonna miss your best friend now?
You're gonna have to find yourself
Another best friend, somehow.

Now, don′t you try an′ move me,
You're just gonna lose.
There′s a crash on the levee
And, mama, you've been refused.
Well, it′s sugar for sugar
And salt for salt,
If you go down in the flood,
It's gonna be your own fault.
Oh mama, ain′t you gonna miss your best friend now?
You're gonna have to find yourself
Another best friend, somehow.

Well, that high tide's risin′,
Mama, don′t you let me down.
Pack up your suitcase,
Mama, don't you make a sound.
Now, it′s king for king,
Queen for queen,
It's gonna be the meanest flood
That anybody′s seen.
Oh mama, ain't you gonna miss your best friend now?

Yes, you′re gonna have to find yourself
Another best friend, somehow.

Overall Meaning

The song "Crash on the Levee" by Bob Dylan is a warning to a woman who is about to face drastic consequences. The singer is trying to convince the woman to leave before the impending disaster, but she is adamant about staying with her best friend. The first stanza sets the scene for the upcoming disaster, where water is going to overflow, and the swamp is going to rise, and no boat will be able to row. The singer suggests that she can train down to Williams Point, bust her feet, and rock the joint, but she will miss her best friend.

In the second stanza, the singer tells her that she cannot move him and that she has been refused from the possibility of escaping the disaster. Furthermore, he suggests that she can only blame herself if she goes down in the flood. In the last stanza, the singer urges her to leave and not let him down, and warns that it will be a mean flood that anybody has ever seen.

The song is open to interpretation, but it seems to suggest that the woman is about to face a situation that she can avoid, but is choosing to stay with her friend. The singer suggests that the impending disaster is not worth it, and she should leave before it's too late.

Nice I like it :) I like the new guitar too! I think its his first none red/crazy multicolour guitar.

@manfredmm

Umm this is pretty nice, seriously, great drumming, I'll assume it's Joe by the sound of it. Just glad Panther's... what should I say, "back to normal"? At least playing something that makes sense with a little bit reminiscence of his old works, unlike the previous two cycle albums.... melodically this isn't as interesting as it could be, but guess as long as the guitar is reasonable enough, I'll be satisfied with such great drumming.
