Originally hailing from Cape Town, South Africa, Civil Twilight is a power trio that draws parallels with Pilot Speed and is especially known for their similar sound to early U2, Muse, Jeff Buckley, and Radiohead. Their music has been described as having impassioned vocals and stirring, alt-rock songcraft. Brothers Andrew and Steven McKellar were raised in a musical household, having explored their father's jazz collection at a young age while listening to their classically trained mother play piano. In November 1996, Andrew launched a teenaged band with help from his high school classmate, guitarist Richard Wouters. The two scheduled an inaugural rehearsal for the following month; in the interim, Andrew discovered that his younger brother, Steven, could sing and write songs. The three musicians subsequently banded together, with Steven agreeing to master the bass and Wouters giving up the guitar (which Andrew also played) to learn drums.
Their songs have been featured in many TV spots, including One Tree Hill and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. "Quiet In My Town" was prominently featured at the end of Season 6 Episode 3 Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. of One Tree Hill on The CW Network. It played for 6 minutes during the coda – the scene of Quentin's funeral. They have also had songs on Vampire Diaries and the movie, "Underworld: Awakening". "Letters From The Sky" was featured at the end of Episode 11 of Harper's Island, after Wakefield kills Cal and Chloe commits suicide. In addition to this, the song was also featured on Season 7 of One Tree Hill, in the opening scene of the episode, You Are a Runner and I Am My Father's Son. The song has also featured at the end of the film I Am Number Four.

Stolen
Civil Twilight Lyrics

While I was walking alone
She was so gentle and sweet
Kissed my hands
Kissed my feet
She poured me a glass of deep red wine
To numb my feet and ease my mind
When I awoke she was gone
I didn't even notice that something was wrong
I didn't even notice that my heart had been
Stolen
Who is this thief in the night?
Steals my strength, robs my mind
She left me, a blind wanderer
With no words to speak or ponder
And I didn't notice anything was wrong
I didn't even notice that my heart had been
Stolen
I will search the land and sea
To find this girl who stole from me
And when I do I'll tell her she
Can keep that old heart of mine
Cause I didn't even notice anything was wrong
I didn't even notice that my heart had been
Stolen
The song “Stolen” by Civil Twilight portrays a story of a person who encounters love unexpectedly, but just as quickly as it came, the love leaves without any notice. The song starts by describing how the singer met love on a gravel road while walking alone, and how love was gentle, sweet, and affectionate, kissing the singer’s hands and feet. In the second verse, the singer opens up to love and falls asleep in its arms only for it to disappear without any warning, leaving the singer helpless and empty. The chorus repeats the idea that the singer had no idea that love had stolen their heart, and the search to find it back is a desperate one.
The third verse is the singer’s plea to find the girl who stole their heart, and when they do, they would tell her to keep it since they didn’t even realize it was gone. The song goes back to the chorus mentioning how life can pass by, and one may not even realize they have lost something valuable, such as love. However, the song ends on a hopeful note, that the singer will continue to search for love in all forms.
