Something's Wrong
Clan of Xymox Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Do you know me now?
When I let you fall
Do you know yourself?
When you're going down
Do you know enough?
When you hit the ground
Do you feel the pain?
When you're coming round

So what if you can't stand it and you're left in the dark
I simply don't see you
Like you don't exist at all
'cause, there's something wrong with you
There's something wrong with you
There's something wrong with you
There's something wrong with you

In this desolation
One day you will see
The still blue waters
So let it be
Intrigue and treason
Treachery and hate
Confusion blossoms
In the darkest place

How obvious are your motives
How simple are your thrives
All these fears and emotions
Lie hollow in your lies
Do you know me now?
When I let you fall
Do you feel the pain?
When you hit the ground

So what if you can't stand it and you're left out in the cold
All ties are broken
So I simply don't care at all
'cause, there's something wrong with you
There's something wrong with you
There's something wrong with you

There's something wrong with you
There's something wrong with you

Overall Meaning

The song "Something's Wrong" by Clan of Xymox portrays the ideas of isolation and confusion caused by a person's hidden motives and desires. The first stanza begins with the question "Do you know me now?" which may imply the singer's disappointment towards a person who has fallen and caused some sort of suffering. The next three lines are reiterations of the same question, but reference the falling and hitting the ground metaphorically. The final line of the stanza asks if the individual can feel the resulting pain of their actions. The chorus essentially disapproves of the individual and states that there is something wrong with them. The singer describes seeing through the individual like they don't exist at all, which suggests a lack of connection and disappointment.

In the second stanza, the song continues with a theme of turmoil and confusion. The singer mentions desolation and the still blue waters, which could be interpreted as a metaphor for eventual calmness and clarity. Intrigue, treason, treachery, and hate are oppositions to the desired calmness in life. The final lines restate the idea that the individual in question has unclear motives and emotions, leading to a lack of trust and more confusion. In the final chorus, the singer expresses distancing themselves from the individual, ultimately not caring anymore about them. The repetition of the phrase "there's something wrong with you" emphasizes how misaligned the individual's behavior and emotions may be.

Overall, "Something's Wrong" portrays emotions of disappointment, confusion, and a lack of connection towards a person with unclear desires and motives.

I seriously cannot stop listening to this song. It is haunting and it is beautiful. It is perfect for what it attempts to be.

They only have so much to offer.

Somebody wanted perfection or close enough to it.

When they didnt live up to his standards, confusion blossomed in the darkest place. And THAT has a distinct odor.

Fantastic song. I never thought I would unintentionally find such a brilliant band from watching part of a terribly made Ninja film

Josh Reji

Which movie are you referring to?

Willard

@Josh Reji Hello! Sorry for the late response.

The song I heard from this band initially was "A Day" and I believe it was in the film, "Rage of a Ninja", by Godfrey Ho (I think it was him anyway). The song played during two scenes that I can remember. The first off the top of my head was when the good guy (a pink ninja) was attacked by two other ninjas, one who was wearing black, and the other wearing white. It plays again in the very last fight scene when the bad guy (a yellow ninja) is fighting the good guy.

It's a very bad but very entertaining film overall, it's cut with footage of some other unrelated nonsense as well, which only adds to the hilarity. I'd highly recommend it and Godfrey Ho's other film, "Undefeatable" or any of his numerous ninja themed films if you prefer the idea of ninjas running around the modern world (modern as in the 80's/90's anyway) in bright colored outfits fighting each other for what seem to be extremely nebulous reasons!
