Zero Gravity
Clawjob Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

GREG: Locking up the zero gravity lab, shutting down the robotic butler tonight.
Passing by the zero gravity baths, on my way, I know what's behind the
Dormitories at Space School.
She was the only girl I wanted to have a
Sliver of a possibility with.

I can see you, but you can't see me.
Please understand things are different in zero-g.
I can see you, but you can't see me.
Things are different up here in zero gravity.

She's running water for a zero gravity bath, slipping off her zero gravity bra.
Dips her toe into desalinized purified sweat, she slips off her zero gravity...
Thawing out my heart, I'm feeling that
She and I: two parts per million.
If only she, if only she could see...

And I know I shouldn't be spying or snooping around,
And I know I shouldn't be reading your diary out loud...

Page 42: Fusion!
Page 50: Julian?!?!?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Clawjob's song Zero Gravity depict a protagonist named Greg who is at space school and infatuated with a girl who he believes is the only one he has a chance with. He is seen locking up the zero gravity lab and shutting down the robotic butler before passing by the zero gravity baths on his way. He knows what lies behind the dormitories at space school which is where the girl he fancies is. Greg hints at the idea that there are different things that happen in zero-g as he can see her, but she can't see him. This further highlights their disconnect, and these lines imply the struggle of their relationship with the weightlessness of zero-g.

The lyrics take a more explicit turn when Clawjob describes the girl running a water bath that is designed for zero-gravity, and she disrobes. The scene is suggestive, and it portrays the girl as a sexually liberated character. The singer is taken aback by the whole experience, and his heart is thawing out as he sees her for the first time in this light. However, Clawjob recognizes the disconnect between the two characters and reiterates that the girl does not see him. He continues by acknowledging his actions: spying and reading her diary out loud, which shows that the singer is trying to come to grips with a relationship he cannot have.
