Fall
Clay Walker Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Hold up, there you go again
Puttin' on that smile again
Even though I know you've had a bad day
Doin' this and doin' that
Always puttin' yourself last
A whole lotta give and not enough take

But you can only be strong so long before you break

So fall, go on and fall apart
Fall into these arms of mine
I'll catch you every time you fall
Go on and lose it all
Every doubt, every fear, every worry, every tear
I'm right here
Baby, fall

Forget about the world tonight
All that's wrong and all that's right
Lay your head on my shoulder, let it fade away
And if you wanna let go, baby, it's okay

Fall, go on and fall apart
Fall into these arms of mine
I'll catch you every time you fall
Go on and lose it all
Every doubt, every fear, every worry, every tear
I'm right here
Baby, fall

Hold on, hold on, hold on to me

Fall, go on and fall apart
Fall into these arms of mine
I'll catch you every time you fall
Go on and lose it all
Every doubt, every fear, every worry, every tear

I'm right here
Baby, fall

Overall Meaning

The song Fall by Clay Walker is a beautiful ballad that speaks to the strength of love and the power of vulnerability. The song starts with a recognition that the person has had a bad day and is putting on a smile to hide their true feelings. The singer acknowledges the person's habit of putting themselves last and always being a giver. However, the singer knows that there is only so much one can endure before breaking. The chorus reassures the listener that it is okay to fall apart and be vulnerable. The singer urges them to let go of all their doubts, fears, worries, and tears and fall into their arms where they will be caught every time.

The second verse talks about forgetting the world and laying one's head on the singer's shoulder. It is an invitation to be vulnerable and let all the pain, fear, and worries fade away. The bridge holds a note of reassurance as the singer tells the person to hold on to their love and never let go. The chorus repeats the message of the song, assuring the listener that they will be caught every time they fall.

Overall, Fall is a powerful song that reminds us that it is okay to be vulnerable and that true strength lies in being able to let go and accept help when we need it. The song has a beautiful melody, and Clay Walker's voice adds depth to the lyrics, making it a moving and emotional experience.

I have loved Clay Walker ever since I heard his first single. I bought that cassette tape. And I still have his first album on cassette. And I remember calling into my country radio station and requesting songs he hadn't released yet. And I was ecstatic when the songs I requested made the top 20 cmt videos. Way back when you didn't have to pay premium prices to hear and see country music videos!

Clay Walker is one of the best Country music singers of all time. He has a unique voice and as we call it in the the south so we say, we speak with a "South Tune". Amazing man! It's such a shame that such great people get such terrible illnesses as he has, but boy has he had an incredible career and life.

I just lost my grandpa and couldn’t hold the tears back anymore. Now I’ll have to remember him longer than I knew him!

This song reminds me of the quote “you don’t cry because you’re weak, but because you’ve been strong for too long.” One of the most powerful sayings I’ve ever heard, I think.
