Net die hart kan werklik sien
Kan ‘n kyker so bekoor
Elke dag bietjie nader asseblief maak my mak
Maak jou koms ‘n ritueel
Dan word my hartseer opsluit miete
Dan begin ek my hart vir jou mooi maak
As ek moet wag word ek net weer betrap
Elke dag bietjie nader asseblief maak my mak
Elke dag bietjie nader asseblief maak my mak
En as jy my sou mak maak
Kom sit hier naby my
Elke dag bietjie nader asseblief maak my mak
Elke dag bietjie nader asseblief maak my mak
The lyrics of Coenie De Villiers's song Klein Prinsie reflect on the importance of love and the essence of one's existence. The singer highlights that the most essential things are invisible to the eye, and only the heart can truly see them. The song hence suggests that an individual's true significance is a product of the love and time they invest in their relationships. Additionally, the lyrics suggest that one's heart is a garden that they must tend to continually, every day, 'bietjie nader,' to keep it, and their relationships, healthy and fruitful.
As the singer waits for their lover, they reflect on how each encounter brings them closer to understanding the value of happiness. They emphasize to the lover that they bear the responsibility of their happiness and that they must continue to grow and nurture their relationship. The song thus emphasizes that relationships require constant effort and that responsibility lies on both parties, to create and care for their flourishing 'roos' (rose).
Overall, Klein Prinsie speaks to the human condition of finding purpose through meaningful relationships, and the importance of continually investing time and love to ensure that these relationships fulfill their potential.
