Liedjie Vir Luca
Coenie De Villiers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Stuur ek 'n liedjie vir jou aan
Dat ek nie meer daar is nie
Sover op reis moes gaan
Die liedjie is nie lank nie
Sy woorde is maar min
En kom jy by sy einde
Die akkoorde is eenvoudig
Die harmonie is ewe min
Jy moet fyn, fyn luister, Luca
Slaap liewe Luca, ek hou oor jou wag
Ek woon by die sterre wat so blink
In die nag
My liedjie is geheim
Dis net jy wat hom kan hoor
Luister vinnig en versigtig
Voor die onskuld jou verloën
Dis dan wanneer dit wegraak
My woorde in die wind
Want dis onskuld wat ons heelmaak
So word ons weer kind
En as jy ooit alleen voel
Is daar iets om na te luister
Na die versie net vir jou
Wat so saggies vir jou fluister
Jy hoef nooit bang te wees nie
Jy sien die donker wyk
Voor my liedjie en my woorde
Wat jou kinderhart bereik
Want kyk, daar is werklik 'n man in die maan
Dis ek wat doerver op sy oppervlak staan
Slaap liewe Luca, ek hou oor jou wag
Ek woon by die sterre wat so blink
In die nag
The lyrics to Coenie De Villiers's song "Liedjie Vir Luca" convey a poignant message of love, connection, and comfort across distances. In the opening lines, the singer speaks of sending a song to Luca from the other side of the Milky Way, acknowledging the vast distance he has traveled. This sets the tone for a theme of longing and separation that runs through the song.
The simplicity of the song is highlighted in the description of its short length and minimal words and chords. The singer suggests that even though the song may be straightforward, its beauty lies in its subtlety and the listener's ability to find deeper meaning within it. The idea that reaching the end of the song brings one back to the beginning symbolizes the cyclical nature of life and love, where endings can also be beginnings.
The imagery of the man in the moon and the singer standing on its surface watching over Luca as he sleeps adds a dreamlike quality to the song. The mention of stars, clouds, and the moon creates a magical and ethereal atmosphere, reinforcing the idea of a connection beyond physical boundaries.
As the song progresses, the lyrics speak to the power of music and words to evoke emotions and memories, especially in moments of loneliness or uncertainty. The reassurance that Luca should never be afraid, as the singer's song and words will always be there to comfort and guide him, emphasizes the enduring nature of love and the strength found in vulnerability.
Overall, "Liedjie Vir Luca" is a tender and heartfelt tribute to the bond between the singer and Luca, illustrating the belief in the transformative power of music, love, and innocence. It conveys a sense of protection, connection, and timeless presence that transcends physical separation and resonates with the universal longing for understanding, acceptance, and love.
