Bleed
Cold Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

My hands are up
Cause I'm in this cycle again
Writing thoughts of a pessimist
I lack clarity
I resorted to
Letting the ache contort my well-being
While I'm fighting
For the love that's left in me
Cause I can't seem to loosen up
(It's killing me)
This misery is comforting
As I bleed out
I'm spiraling
It's bringing me down
It's bringing me down
They say to understand this life you must experience pain
To carry a cross with near unbearable weight
Do not tread lightly
Do not be afraid
Anger's led by fear
While Hate's led by anger
The suffering is led by the hate
But what
Would it cost to change
The way I think
To have
More trust in you
And more
Faith in me?
Cause I can't seem to loosen up
(It's killing me)
This misery is comforting
As I bleed out
I'm spiraling
It's bringing me down
It's bringing me down
Is this process all that's left for me?
And what am I truly willing to leave behind
To make amends with melancholy?
Cause I can't seem to loosen up
(It's killing me)
This misery is comforting
As I bleed out
I'm spiraling
It's bringing me down
It's bringing me down
On the way up
I'm spiraling
As I bleed out
I'm spiraling
It's bringing me down

It's bringing me down
It's killing me

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Cold's song "Bleed" explore a complex and conflicting relationship between two people. The opening lines, "Your heart keeps a blade of apprehension, Hidden deep in our conversation," speak to a sense of guardedness and mistrust in the relationship. Despite this, the two individuals continue to engage with one another, with one party (presumably the singer) acknowledging that their life leads to the other's deception.

As the song progresses, the lyrics touch on themes of isolation and loneliness, with lines like "Bitter sweet isolation" and "All your dreams drift uncollected, In your sleep where there's no protection." We see a picture of two people who are deeply intertwined, yet still struggle to fully trust and understand one another.

The chorus of the song is both intense and somewhat unsettling: "You get violent sometimes, I don't mind 'cos it means you're mine." While it's unclear from the lyrics what exactly is meant by the phrase "get violent," it implies a degree of emotional or physical aggression that is concerning. Despite this, the singer seems to find some sense of comfort in the other's possessiveness, suggesting a level of co-dependence in the relationship.

"Bleed"

I'm feeling crossed
I take it inside
Burn up the pain
My thoughts are strange
Just like the things
I used to love
Just like the tree that fell
I heard it
If art is still inside
I feel it

I wanna bleed
Show the world all that I have inside
I wanna scream
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive

Take all these strings
They call my veins
Wrap them around
Every fucking thing

Presence of people
Not for me
Well I must remain in tune
Forever
My love is music
I will marry melody

I wanna bleed
Show the world all that I have inside
I wanna scream
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive

Won't you let me take you
For a ride
You can stop the world
Try to change my mind
Won't you let me show you
How it feels
You can stop the world
But you won't change me

I need music
I need music
I need music to set me free
To let me bleed

simply bleed

I'm feeling crossed, I take it inside
Burn up the pain, my thoughts are strange
Just like the things I used to know
Just like the tree that fell, I heard it
Art is still inside I feel it

I wanna bleed (I wanna show you all the pain)
Show the world all that I have inside
I wanna scream (I wanna make you feel the same)
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive

Take all these strings, they call my veins
Wrap them around, every fucking thing
Presence of people not for me
Well I must remain in tune forever
My love is music, I will marry melody

I wanna' bleed (I wanna show you all the pain)
Show the world all that I have inside
I wanna scream (I wanna make you feel the same)
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive

I said
I wanna bleed (Show you all the pain)
I wanna feel
I wanna scream (Make you feel the same)
I wanna feel

Won't you let me take you for a ride
You can stop the world, try to change my mind
Won't you let me show you how it feels
You can stop the world, but you won't change me
I need music
I need music
I need music
To set me free
To let me bleed

This song...was one of my late best friends favorites. He and I went to high school together, joined the army and deployed together. Not just once, but twice to Taji Iraq, in 2004 and in 2008. When we got home in December of 2008, he was facing a divorce. On February 24 2009, he left for the Mall of America, from Arkansas, and hit a patch of black ice. He succumbed to the injuries from that roll over, and changed my life forever. It's been 13 years, but I still visit his grave 2 or 3 times a year. Thank you Scooter Ward, for the great memories I have tied to this song. Life wouldn't be the same without you or the rest of Cold. Thank you.

@bishop_da_grenade

I also was in Taji in 2004 to 2005. I know the pain. I hope this message finds you prospering ❤❤

Sad this song wasn't more popular. Because it has value.

@FarewellFix

Very much was beloved when it came out. Had the chance to see Cold and Staind on tour for this, Aaron Lewis came out for the song. It was incredible. Band gets overshadowed as years go on and they get older. They were/are loved.

@EsotericHighway

I mean it has almost 5 million views.

It's also not unpopular

@FallouFitness_NattyEdition

Music like this will always be criminally undervalued.
